Fairfield Elementary School fifth-grader George Paizis was “swinging into the new year” in the winter obstacle course as physical education teacher John Musmacker watched.

The gymnasium at Fairfield Elementary School was transformed to create a winter obstacle course throughout December. During their physical education classes, students ran through hula hoops, crawled under a web, walked across a balance beam, raced on scooters and climb a wall, among other activities.

The course ended with them swinging on a rope and the then writing down their New Year’s resolution on a large piece of paper to “swing into the new year.”
