First-half 2017 General Tax payments are due and can be paid by mail, online or in person. Mailed payments must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before Feb. 10 to avoid a penalty. If mailing your payment on or just before the due date, have your envelope hand stamped to ensure a timely postmark.
Online payments may be made by check through your bank (schedule at least 10 days prior to the deadline and include your bill number, section, block and lot) or credit card (for a processing rate of 2.35 percent) at www.northhempsteadny.gov.
Bills can be paid in person at 200 Plandome Rd. in Manhasset on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The tax office will also be open until 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10. Or, you can pay with check or money order at the following sites on these dates and times.
Tuesday, Jan. 31: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fuschillo Park, Carle Road and Broadmoor Lane in Carle Place; and 1 to 2 p.m. at “Yes We Can” Community Center, 141 Garden St. in New Cassel.
Wednesday, Feb. 1: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Clinton G. Martin Park, Marcus Avenue and New Hyde Park Road in New Hyde Park; and 2 to 3 p.m. at Broadway Park, Broadway and County Courthouse Road in Garden City Park.
Thursday, Feb. 2: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Great Neck Social Center, 80 Grace Ave. in Great Neck; and 1 to 3 p.m. at Michael J. Tully Park, Evergreen Avenue in New Hyde Park.
Friday, Feb. 3: 12 to 2 p.m. at John D. Caemmerer Park at Wentworth Avenue in Albertson.
Monday, Feb. 6: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Port Washington Parking District, 15 Vanderventer Ave. in Port Washington; and 1 to 2 p.m. at Hector Gayle Roslyn Community Center, 53 Orchard St. in Roslyn Heights (parking lot on Lincoln Avenue).
