Man Fatally Shot in Valley Stream

A 35-year-old man was shot to death in Valley Stream early Monday morning, Nassau County police said.

Fifth Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of a man shot on West Merrick Road near the corner of North Central Avenue shortly after 4 a.m., police said. The victim was taken to Franklin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

The victim’s was identified as Shaleek Jenkins, of Hempstead. No arrests have been made.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
