A 23-year-old Hempstead man was found dead in an abandoned house in Wyandanch over the weekend and investigators suspect he was a victim of foul play, Suffolk County police said.

A man trying to get out of the cold weather entered a vacant house on Long Island Avenue, where he found a dead body and flagged down police to notify them of the discovery at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

The victim, who was identified as Alan Moore, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide Squad detectives determined the death appears criminal, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on this case to call them at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
