A 27-year-old Rockville Centre woman was killed when the car she was driving was involved in a crash with a box truck in Baldwin early Friday morning.

Nassau County police said Chelsi Perez was driving a Hyundai westbound on Merrick Road when she lost control and collided with an eastbound box truck near the corner of Gale Avenue at 1:45 a.m.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Homicide Squad detectives impounded the vehicles and are continuing the investigation.
