The man’s dead body was found floating in the Great South Bay off Sayville on Sunday night, Suffolk County police said.

A ferry crew made the discovery ¾ of a mile south of Browns River Road at 8 p.m. and called police, authorities said.

The man was identified as Jose Perez Ramirez, 43, of Patchogue.

The body was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the man’s cause of death, which investigators said appears non-criminal.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the case to call them at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
