The entire community is invited to the free South High School Spring Concert I, featuring the Jazz Band, Mixed Choir, String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble on Thursday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ruel E. Tucker Auditorium, 341 Lakeville Rd.
The Jazz Band will perform:“The Blues Brothers Rockin’ Soul Revue,” “Superstition” and “A Salute to Glenn Miller II.”
The Mixed Choir will sing “Fire, Fire, My Heart,” “O Magnum Mysterium,” “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye,” “The Old Mill” and “Fly Me to the Moon.”
The String Orchestra will play “Danzon” from Fancy Free, “Fiddle-Faddle” and “Celtic Canon.”
The Symphony Orchestra will perform “Ballet Parisien” by Jacques Offenbach.
The Wind Ensemble will close the evening with “World’s Fair March,” “Abram’s Pursuit,” “Irish Tune from County Derry and Shepherd’s Hey,” “Second Suite in F for Military Band” and “John Williams: Fantasy of Flight.”
Spring Concert I will be under the direction of Michael Schwartz, performing arts department head/instrumental teacher; Mark Boschen, wind ensemble/instrumental music teacher; and Dr. Pamela Levy, vocal teacher.
