Barbara Beck Simmons

Barbara Simmons, 80, died on May 23 at her home in Oyster Bay after a courageous battle with ALS.
She grew up in Port Washington and was a 1954 graduate of Paul D. Schreiber High School. Soon after her marriage, she moved back to Port and was a long-time member of the Port Washington Yacht Club. Her two children were also Schreiber graduates: Christopher Simmons, class of 1982, and Elizabeth Schupler, class of 1986. She is also survived by her husband of 56 years, Lee Simmons; her sister, Eileen Beck Tyrrell, of Port Washington; and seven grandchildren.
Family arrangements were private. Friends will celebrate her life at the PWYC in early July.
