Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano joined members of Nassau County’s Peruvian-American community at a Peruvian Day celebration on Friday, July 28, at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola. Mangano presented a proclamation to Maria Teresa Merino de Hart, Ambassador of the Peruvian Consulate, declaring July 28 Peruvian Independence Day.
“Today we celebrate Peru’s 196th year of Independence, which provides a great opportunity to reflect on the many achievements and contributions of the Peruvian-American community not only here in Nassau County, but across the country,” said County Executive Mangano. “The Peruvian-American community and the Peru Latin-American Chamber of Commerce are comprised of ambitious individuals who are dedicated to improving Nassau County for all of its residents. Our joint efforts have given all of us the opportunity to learn from each other and to share in an array of diverse cultures, which is part of what makes our county great!
