The ad hominem attacks on Dov Sassoon in the Sept. 6 letter to the editor, “Great Neck Synagogue Has Lost Its Heart,” were ugly and unjustified.
Dov is a beloved and respected member of the greater Great Neck community. He grew up in Great Neck and selflessly gives his time for the betterment of Great Neck through service to the Village of Great Neck, the Village of Great Neck Estates, the North Shore Hebrew Academy, the local chapter of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a number of charities and, of course, the Great Neck Synagogue, among others.
His home is, and always has been, open to all and I know of few people who are more well-regarded or loved in this town.
He also has terrific hair.
Whoever wrote that letter clearly doesn’t know much about Dov.
