North High Student Wins LI Scholar-Artist Award

Isabel Yang, a senior at North High School, is a recipient of a Long Island Scholar-Artist Award of Merit. She is one of only 20 students to receive this outstanding honor.

“We recognize that you are dedicated to your art and are a very valuable asset to your school district. We commend you for your hard work, excellent scholarship and accomplishments,” said Dr. John Gallagher, a Scholar-Artist Award official, about Yang.

“We are exceedingly proud of Isabel not only for receiving this award, but also for being selected for the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Conference, for the second year in a row,” said Joseph Rutkowski, North High instrumental music director.

At last year’s All-State Conference, Yang played the violin in the Symphony Orchestra. This fall, she will perform in the String Orchestra.
