Mill Neck’s Center For Hearing Health Launches Audiology Mobile Van

Mill Neck’s Center For Hearing Health Launches Audiology Mobile VanMill Neck’s Center for Hearing Health (CHH) is excited to launch their latest venture: a state-of-the-art Audiology Mobile Van.

The CHH mobile unit is fully equipped with a large sound proof booth and one smaller booth to perform full audiological evaluations and hearing screenings for children and adults. The van is also handicapped accessible, air conditioned and equipped with lavatory facilities. Some hearing aid checks and consults can also be performed.

“It’s a great, gratifying feeling to see this project come to fruition,” said CHH Director of Audiology Dr. Susan Antonellis. “The van will bring exceptional hearing healthcare from qualified professionals to people who can’t access our services on-site.”

This is the second generation of an audiological van that was created for Mill Neck by Mill Neck Board Chairman Rudolph Auslander back in the 1970s. Auslander, who has hearing issues of his own after working in the airport industry for 45 years, said, “The technological advancements in audiology over the last 40 years in unbelievable. Now, we’re able to provide better equipment and more advanced services to help a lot of people hear again.”

The mission of the audiological van is to bring hearing care to individuals at centers, companies and organizations who are unable to access it in Nassau and Suffolk County and then extend the geographical range based on need.

“We came to the realization that our location is very tough to travel to in the middle of winter,” said Mill Neck President and CEO Michael F. Killian. “We thought, why don’t we put it on wheels and drive it to these locations and connect with the community?”
