Teen Nabbed for Hempstead Christmas Murder

Nassau County Police

A teenager has been arrested and a second is wanted for allegedly shooting a 35-year-old man to death in the victim’s hometown of Hempstead on Christmas, Nassau County police said.

Shameq Sullins, 16, was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder in the shooting of Rafael I. Cepeda, police said. Sullins was the lookout and a second suspect who has yet to be apprehended, 17-year-old Antoine Foster, allegedly fired the shots, police said, noting the teens are members of the Bloods street gang.

Officers had responded to a ShotSpotter alert when they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds on Terrace Avenue at 6:25 p.m. Dec. 25, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died an hour later.

Sullins, also of Hempstead, pleaded not guilty Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead. He was ordered held without bail.FOSTER SULLINS POSTER email e1515001272734
