With an excellent start to the season, St. Mary’s Elementary School’s boys basketball team (4-1) continues to impress on the court with a great mix of speed and height this year. Under the coaching staff of Richard Cain and Michael Griffin, their passing is impeccably allowing them to find their open teammate to get to the net.

StMarys 011018AThe girls basketball team, coached by Michael Griffin and Damien Quinn is also off to a great start with a record of 4-2, bringing much promise for the team’s overall stats. Their offense is led by seventh grader Emma Murphy scoring double digits in most games. She is a team player who finds her teammates on the court allowing them to score. Defensively they all work together causing their opponents to take notice.

St. Mary’s Elementary School participates in the Spirit League, which is made up of local Catholic Schools on Long Island. The school also plays in non-league games to continue honing their skills and further prepare them for league games.
