There are big changes ahead at the elementary school level in Manhasset public schools and both schools are seeking candidates for the principal positions. Dr. Jean Kendall, principal of Munsey Park Elementary School, will be moving to a new role in central administration. Robert Geczik, principal of Shelter Rock Elementary School, will be retiring this October.
Kendall will be the Manhasset School District’s new assistant superintendent for human resources, beginning with the 2018-19 school year. She has been principal of Munsey Park for 23 years.
“I am extremely honored by our District Board of Education and administration for having the faith and confidence in me to assume this new role,” said Kendall. “I am truly excited and humbled to take this next step and to offer my guidance in a broader capacity, with an impact for Munsey Park students, plus many more students.”
Under her guidance, Munsey Park School has earned many distinctions, such as National Blue Ribbon School and a New York State Reward School. She will serve as principal of Munsey Park School for the remainder of the school year and will transition to her new role as assistant superintendent at the beginning of July.
The Manhasset Board of Education and administration are actively conducting a search for new principals for both Munsey Park and Shelter Rock.
Former Superintendent of Manhasset Schools commented, “I was extremely happy to work with such a dedicated team of professionals during my tenure as superintendent.”
Also retiring this year at the District level is Raymond Scacalossi, district coordinator of mathematics.
