Join fellow Port residents on April 28 in “Shop For A Cause” in honor of Vietnam veteran and blood cancer patient John Sasso. The day of shopping from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Main Street at Impulse, Bluetique or Entree Boutique supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
“The reason Impulse supports LLS is because its mission is to cure all types of blood cancer, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and to help the patients and families of those who have been diagnosed,” said owner of Impulse Cheryl Feld. “It’s a very comprehensive organization with amazing people. And honoring John Sasso, a veteran, is very meaningful.”
All three boutiques will donate 10 percent of their sales to the society. They are also all donating a gift card to their stores, which will be raffled off in each respective store. All proceeds from the raffle tickets will be donated to the cause. A few restaurants have also donated gift cards to be included in the raffle.
“Finding research to cure leukemia is close to home,” owner of Entree Boutique Susan Zemser said. “I lost a friend to leukemia when I was 8-years old, which is one of the reasons I’m participating.”
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has invested more than $1 billion in research aimed at helping all blood cancer patients live longer, healthier lives while their co-pay assistance program has provided patients with $323 million and their Information Resource Center specialists field nearly 2,000 inquiries a month from patients and caregivers.
