In today’s day and age, kids’ parties have to be cooler than the last one they attended. For the parents, they want their child to be happy but not break the bank on an over-the-top affair. That’s where Dave & Buster’s comes in. The American restaurant and entertainment brand sees hundreds of thousands of people walk through its doors each year. And for a business that has an almost monopoly on being a one stop shop for food, fun and entertainment, it’s a no-brainer why people should consider Dave & Buster’s as a party venue for their next event.
“It’s the only place to eat, drink, play and watch sports all under one roof,” said Heath Nelson, general manager of Dave & Buster’s Westbury, echoing the company’s mission statement. “We cater to 20-somethings, families, businesses, anyone who wants to get out and have fun. We really do cater to every spectrum.”
Throughout the week, Dave & Buster’s has a variety of food, drink and gaming specials known as the Eat and Play Combo, a combination of power card and food from Sunday to Thursday (open to close) and Friday to Saturday (until 5 p.m.). Prices start at $17.99 with a $10 card or $25.99 with a $20 card.
Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3:45 to 7 p.m. and feature $5 bar bites (Asian Chicken Wonton Nachos, Sweet & Spicy Kobe Meatball Sliders, Bavarian Pretzels, Mexican Street Corn Quesadillas, Loaded Potstickers, Guacamole & Chips) and $3 select cocktails (Captain Morgan, Skyy Vodka and more), $4 premium cocktails (Jack Daniels, Tito’s and more) and $5 super premium cocktails (Strawberry Watermelon Margarita, Luxe Patron LIT, Glow Kones and more).
It’s two-fer Tuesdays as well at Dave & Buster’s with $2 hard shell tacos, $2 Corona bottles and two free game plays with a $10 purchase. During football season, the specials continue with bar bites and $4 Coors Light 22 oz. Draft.
On average, Dave & Buster’s hosts 30 events a week, which extends to parties (kids and adult), corporate events, bar/bat mitzvahs, company teambuilders, communions, camps and schools, post proms and more. Dave & Buster’s will be hosting a special bar/bat mitzvah showcase on Oct. 14, from noon to 3 p.m., where guests can chat with vendors, sample food and see what their special day would be like should they choose Dave & Buster’s for their venue.
According to Karen Kelly, multi-market corporate sales manager for Dave & Buster’s, the event is held annually as a mock bar/bat mitzvah cocktail hour.
“We have our most pop dinner foods for guests to sample and we show what we would do at a real bar/bat mitzvah,” said Kelly. “We have a DJ, decorator, magician, photographer, and event planner, all of which are very involved in the process of planning.”
Enhancement options such as club theme events with furniture, themed parties customized with a decorator, candy carts, snow cones, chocolate fountains, a T-shirt artist and customized photo favors are some of the add-ons to packages. The brand also offers a one-hour private option that would allow children to have the game room—which features more than 300 games—for the cocktail hour. Guests will also enjoy a full catering menu with Kosher options and an ice cream sundae bar or a fondue station to end the event.
“Everyone gets a chance to see what we offer,” said Kelly, noting that a Dave & Buster’s bar/bat mitzvah is a very unique party. “It’s very focused on the kids. The whole game room is incorporated into the party and it’s fun for kids and adults. We can guarantee there will be something for everyone to do at the party.”
Even those who are familiar with the dining and gaming environment of Dave & Buster’s, anyone interested in looking to host a party or corporate event should consider stopping by.
Dave & Buster’s will also be running a promotion that day for guests who decide to book their date at the showcase (at the Westbury or Massapequa location, which is located at 1 Sunrise Mall, Massapequa), where they will receive a discount.
