The Nassau County Police Department Third Squad reports the arrest of a Missouri man for an assault that occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 3:25 p.m. in Albertson.
According to detectives, patrol officers responded to a 911 call for an assault in the rear of Pups 4 Love located at 957 Willis Avenue. The male victim, Rino DiMaria, 48, had an argument with two unknown males who were delivering puppies. DiMaria, the owner of Joanne’s Gourmet Pizza in Roslyn, was filming the delivery with his cell phone through the window of his car. The incident escalated and became physical.
The first subject removed the victim from his vehicle and began to strike him. Christopher Hyde, 40, of Springfield, MO, participated in kicking and punching the male in his face and body. The unknown subject fled the scene and has not yet been apprehended.
Christopher Hyde remained at the scene and was arrested without incident.
DiMaria suffered injuries to his face and ear. He was was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Hyde has been charged with assault in the third degree. He was arraigned on Jan. 31, 2019 at First District Court in Hempstead.
Mineola American will publish a follow-up on the incident and aftermath in the Feb. 13 edition. A protest is planned outside of Pets 4 Love on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 12:30 p.m.
