May the Fourth — aka Star Wars Day — falls on a Saturday this year, offering more options to celebrate the popular sci-fi movie series than fans can shake a lightsaber at.

Long Island venues hosting events include Vanderbilt Reichert Planetarium in Centerport, and the South Country Library in Bellport.

“We will explore several space-faring technologies of science fiction and discuss how they could possibly become a reality,” said Vanderbilt astronomer Matt Garber. “We’ll take the audience on a journey to various worlds and famous locations seen throughout the Star Wars saga and make connections between these destinations and real locations that could possibly be lurking within our own galaxy.”

Fans are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters for all three events.
