Actor and chef Joseph Gannascoli, who played Vito Spatafore on the HBO series The Sopranos, will be meeting fans and cooking up specialties during three upcoming appearances at Pomodorino Trattoria Italiano in Huntington.
The appearances are part of a managerial initiative to bring back entertainment to the popular the brick oven pizzeria and Italian restaurant. Gannascoli will be cooking up his famous Pasta Cabonara, taking photos with patrons, and signing Sopranos memorabilia from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 24, Aug. 7, and Aug. 21.
“We are billing this as Murderously Delicious Wednesdays,” said Phil Adamo, a former area advertising executive who is one of the new owners that recently took over the restaurant, which has been in business for 23 years. He promises it will be “a really fun time, but nobody is getting whacked.”
Adamo said the restaurant will keep the great chef and staff, some of whom have been working here for many years. He notes that the building was home to the East Side Comedy Club, where the likes of famous entertainers such as Eddie Murphy and Kevin James made their show business debuts.
“We will make it even better by offering entertainment like jazz night and comedy night,” he said.
