It’s twins.
Farmingdale High School Principal Dr. Samuel Thompson recently announced that identical twin sisters are the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2020. Gianna Morales achieved the highest cumulative GPA out of 508 students, earning herself the top spot of valedictorian. Sister Rebecca Morales achieved the rank of salutatorian.
“This is an outstanding accomplishment for these two students and puts us in awe of their commitment to learning,” said Thompson. “Congratulations to both Rebecca and Gianna. We are extremely proud of this exceptional academic accomplishment.”
The young women were told the news in Dr. Thompson’s office, where Superintendent Paul Defendini, Director of Guidance Maureen Moloughney and Guidance Counselor Cara-Lynn Molina all gathered for the surprise announcement. Gianna Morales earned a GPA of 104.591 and Rebecca Morales earned a GPA of 104.529. Both sisters attended Albany Avenue Elementary School and Weldon E. Howitt Middle School.
In addition to presenting the sisters with official certificates, Dr. Thompson gifted them several books, including The Book of Extraordinary Facts, The Book of Amazing Curiousities and the recent bestseller Educated. Before the sisters left his office, Thompson made an official announcement over the PA to share the good news with the entire student body.
