Adorable Cats And Dogs Up For Adoption on Long Island

We asked all of these adorable cats and dogs what they would most like for the holidays and sure enough, the top answer was a home of their own. If you can make wishes come true this holiday season, contact your local animal shelter or rescue today!

Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter

Lizzy
Lizzy

This sad-faced little girl named Lizzy came to the shelter as a stray this December with extremely engorged mammary glands. She was dirty, wounds healing on her chin and ear, with long nails and underweight. Very clearly, Lizzy has not been loved and cared for, and obviously had recently given birth, but her babies were nowhere to be found. Everyone is so heartbroken for Lizzy and her babies who clearly still needed their mamma. Lizzy is friendly with people, and social with dogs but may be a little controlling of her playmate. Lizzy deserves a loving home this holiday season. If you can open your heart and home to her, please email adoption@tohmail.org or call 516-785-5220 for more information today!

Available for adoption at Last Hope Animal Rescue

Blossom
Blossom

Blossom has blossomed since she was surrendered to a Georgia shelter by her previous owner, and now she’s ready to find her forever home. Sometimes when a dog comes from an abusive or neglectful home, it can be a blessing to be owner-surrendered.  This 3-year-old pit mix and her sister (recently adopted) were lucky enough to find their way to Last Hope and through the love they were shown from staff and volunteers, Blossom has made great progress coming out of her shell.  This shy gal would thrive with an adopter who can continue to bolster her confidence. If that someone is you, please call 631-425-1884 or fill out an adoption application on Last Hope’s webpage at https://lasthopeanimalrescue.org/.

Matty Motor and Sid
Matty, Motor, and Sid

Matty, Motor, and Sid are all 1-year-old boys who are likely overlooked at the shelter because they tend to be a little on the shy side. All three kitties grew up in the shelter and watched their more outgoing siblings get happy homes. They may take some time to learn to trust new humans, but once their trust is earned, they are loving, playful, and sweet! These three boys are friends but are not bonded. They would love to be in a furrever home together but will adjust if they aren’t. Shy cats need quiet homes with patience and lots of love to give. If you are interested Matty, Motor, and Sid, please call 631-360-7575 today for more information.

Available for adoption through North Shore Animal League America

Franny and Tessi
Franny and Tessi

**Double Adoption** When 9-month-olds Franny (Adoption #BF3274) and Tessi (Adoption #BF3275) arrived as kittens, the NSALA team determined they would benefit from a foster home setting to help them overcome their fear of humans. The time they’ve shared in a calm, nurturing environment has brought out their best selves, and their foster mom is proud to share their accomplishments with a worthy family. They’re seeking a cat experienced home with older children who will continue to nurture them as they transition into a new and permanent place. The more confident, treat-loving Tessi has grown to love receiving lots of attention and playing with wand toys. Shyer Franny is working on overcoming more of her fear, but gains confidence by watching Tessi’s success, and is joining in on some of the fun. Both sisters are doing a fabulous job with clicker training, which can be shared in their new home. All we need to complete Franny and Tessi’s adoption story is a big-hearted human—and treats!

Sage
Sage

Sage (Adoption #L80797) has proven to be a very resourceful girl! First, she purrsuaded a local rescuer to scoop her up off the streets, then this witty 4-year-old managed to find her way to Animal League America’s vets who took a look at her frequent colds. With a successful treatment plan for chronic rhinitis covered at cost through our Pet Health Centers for life, Sage has moved up to Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center where her wide-eyes and wondrous ears are no match for her enormous heart and insatiable curiosity! Looking for a determined partner to discover your home by your side? Look no further than Sage!

Ingrid

Sweet Mama Ingrid (Adoption #L80611) got to care for her kittens in a peaceful foster home before she joined Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. Locally rescued from the city streets, this lovely one year old will never have to worry about her safety again. You’ll find her basking in a sunny room as she delights in all the wonders of her new and improved life. You’ll complete her story by carrying her off to a well-deserved life as a beloved family member. Photo by Ted Lim
