Wake Up And Get Vaccinated

Letter to the Editor Featured Image webIf you are vaccinated already, that’s great news. If you are not vaccinated, wake up. For your own sake, for the sake of your family, for the sake of your fellow human beings, for the sake of the economy, for the sake of the country, for the sake of the world…get vaccinated.
Now is not the time for complacency. For many of us who have been vaccinated, life is getting back to normal. We are unmasking, getting back to work, eating out, gathering with friends and family, enjoying our summer, and more. But we are not out of the woods. Daily cases, mostly attributed to the more contagious Delta variant, are on the rise. Over this past weekend, more than 1,000 New Yorkers tested positive for coronavirus, with nearly 200 new cases confirmed in Nassau and Suffolk counties. These are the highest daily spikes since May.

If any semblance of real normalcy is going to stick and take hold, it is going to take all of us rolling up our sleeves and getting vaccinated. Unlike earlier this spring, there are plenty of sites available in our area to schedule an appointment or just walk right in.
Do it for yourself, your family, and your friends. Do it for children under 12 years, who do not yet have a vaccine available to them. Do it for your community. Do it; get vaccinated.
