A new kind of dessert shop has opened in Garden City – on Nov. 10, 2021, Slshology debuted its Kosher, candy-topped slushies at the Roosevelt Field Mall.

Owners Jon Prigan and Max Kamenetsky set out to create a fun, “Instagrammable” vibe in the store, offering both tasty products and a memorable experience. If the past two months have been any indication, they seem to have succeeded.

“People love it,” Prigan says. “They love taking pictures and posting and tagging us. Especially on the weekends, we’re mobbed with kids.”

Slshology is a certified Kosher establishment, which Prigan notes has been very helpful for Jewish customers. The shop offers six flavors of slushies and fresh candy to top it off, similar to a typical frozen yogurt store where customers can choose their own toppings.

The slushie flavors are: pineapple, pina colada, mango, cherry, sour apple, and jolly rancher. Slushie makers behind the counter pour the slushie, then add whichever toppings the customer requests.

“Just seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they take the first sip and when we put the candies on in front of them” has been the most exciting part for Prigan’s first business venture.

Customers can choose from a small slushie pouch ($7), medium foldable yard ($10), or a large yard ($13) and add candy for $5 extra. There’s also an extra-large fish bowl for two, which includes unlimited candy toppings, for $18.

Slshology offers some additional snacks, such as hot pretzels, cotton candy, churros, brownies, and cookies, all made fresh daily.  For more healthy eaters, there’s a Greek yogurt and fresh fruit bar.

Slshology is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday to Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday on the main level of the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, between Macy’s and Sketchers.
