And the five top reasons for adopting a new best friend this week are…

  1. You contribute to reducing overpopulation of unwanted animals.

  2. Sky’s the limit on choices! It’s your pick on any breed, age, etc.

  3. You’re saving two lives. The one of your new pets and the space you created for another homeless animal.

  4. Adoption is less expensive than buying an animal from a breeder.

  5. Saving a life is one of the most rewarding actions you can ever take. So don’t wait, head out and find your new bestie today!

**Senior Alert and Special Request** Ice was turned over to the shelter when his owner left him with a caretaker and never came back for him. At around 11 years old there is no doubt that Ice is a senior with a short time ahead of him. He does deserve dignity and love during the time he has left, and most of all he deserves a home. It takes a special adopter to know that they will have a short journey with Ice, but we know they are out there. Ice is a sweet boy who loves to adventure on his own; he is an independent type of guy. Ice enjoys being pet and he makes his connection before he is on to his next good smell to come across. Ice would love to meet you and show you that he deserves a soft place to lay his weary head.

**Senior Alert and Special Request** At 12 years old, Bahama is a senior guy who lost his home when his family lost their home. Bahama may have a short span ahead of him, but wouldn’t it be wonderful for it to be in a home. Bahama spent his whole life as an unneutered male, and he was used as a stud dog so living with another dog in a home could be challenging. Bahama is a sweet boy, and he has lots of love to offer! Bahama walks nicely on a leash and tends to get tired easily especially on warmer days.

**Senior Alert and Special Request** Lucas is a senior guy who appears to have lived the ruff and tough life. Arriving in November of last year, his body is worn but his mind is sharp. Lucas takes a bit of time to warm up but once he gets some good butt scratches, he is all yours. He walks nicely on a leash, and he loves to talk. Lucas can out-howl a Husky on any given day. Lucas would love the idea of a home to be spoiled in; he does need to be the only pet. Please consider giving this senior boy a retirement home.

Jack is one top-notch kitty. This handsome 2-year-old fella is literal purrfection. Jack is in urgent need of a home because his foster is moving, that means his next stop is a shelter. Jack is a very chill kitty who loves to attach to his human. He does need to be the only kitty in the house though. Available for adoption through AllyKatz Rescue

Sweet Skeeter’s mom recently passed away and now this 8-year-old gentleman needs a loving new home. He is healthy, loves people, and is ok with young kids. He is a sweet friendly guy who needs a hero to start his next chapter with.

Queenie is a 4-year-old love that is super sweet and loving with her caregiver. Queenie has never actually had a home to call her own and may need extra time adjusting. Queenie loves nothing more than to be pet and to sit on a friendly lap.

Jill is a beautiful, 2-year-old black panther. She doesn’t like other cats but gets along well with dogs. Jill needs a quiet home, preferable one with a perch on cat tower. Do you have room for this sweet gal?

Heihei and Pepper

Heihei and Pepper are bonded, 8-month-old brothers. Both are slightly timid, quiet yet playful, and make great lap cats because they love to purr and have their bellies rubbed.  Both are ok with older children.

Available for adoption at the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter

**Special Request** Mia is a 3-year-old Mastiff and Lab Mix who has sadly been a resident of the animal shelter for more than two years. She is a goofy dog that loves to play and throw toys around. Mia is a big fan of going on car rides and snuggling up with her favorite people! It takes her some time to get used to strangers, but once you become friends with her, she’ll reward you with kisses for life. She will need a home that can properly introduce her to new people in a way that makes her feel safe. Mia would do best in a home without any other pets or children.

If you are interested in meeting Mia, call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs, and dog walk trail. For more information, call the Smithtown Animal Shelter at 631-360-7575.

Beautiful momma Morgan (Adoption #NCI2670) has earned herself a tranquil life after heroically rearing her nine kittens. Nine!! Can you imagine how exhausted this serene lady must be after looking after all those little ones? While her kittens found loving homes quickly, NSALA wants 3-year-old Morgan to be rewarded for the sacrifices she’s made and find her a family quickly too. You’ll find this mini panther tucked into a cozy bed in her room in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, watching carefully for someone to extend her a kind offer of friendship. Are you who Morgan has been waiting for all along?!

If you have a friendly feline at home seeking a bestie for life, please consider providing Diesel with the best gift ever—your family!

Andy and Anne

**Double Adoption** Andy (Adoption #NCI2784) can be a little shy at first. It’s a good thing his sidekick Anne (Adoption #NCI2785) is always going to be there to make him feel more comfortable. While she is always up for a good time, Andy’s learning to open up more and more and enjoy exploring their new surroundings. Your quiet home may be the first these delightful 1-year-olds have ever known so we’re sure they’ll be so happy to share it together with you.

Ali’s (Adoption #BF3967) local rescue hero discovered her wandering around the streets, trying to survive. The moment she arrived at Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center; she knew she was saved. This beautiful 7-year-old lady has a heart full of gratitude and is actively testing out the laps of visitors, hoping to find the one who fits her purrfectly. To help her in her quest for the purrfect home for her, NSALA is seeking adopters experienced in nurturing tender-hearted cats, with children over age who can show her patience and understanding as she transitions into home life. After enduring the hardship of her abandonment, Ali deserves to feel safe in her new household, one that will provide her peace as the only pet.

Rupert (Adoption #BF3980) is raring to go! Now that he’s safely enjoying the freedom of a sunny room in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, he feels nothing can keep him from his ultimate happiness—a loving home. We agree! This sweet 1-year-old boy is a wonderful choice for any household. He’s simply irresistible! Want a purrfectly handsome, loyal friend to join your family? Come to the Port Washington campus and meet Rupert!

Happy Jack (Adoption #NCR6013) wants nothing more than to be home where he belongs. This terrific tabby will wait in a cozy bed for someone to offer him a little reassurance he’s at last safe and sound after a long trip from North Carolina. Because he can feel a little shy in new situations, NSALA is helping him find a home with older children who’ll enjoy nurturing his spirit. 20-month-old Jack would be very happy if you chose him as your partner in napping, feather hunting, and all the other adventures he’s looking forward to sharing with you in your new home together.
