Collage Maker-08-Jul-2022-12.01-PM

What does one dog, 17 cats, and a rooster have in common? They’re all in search of a loving, forever home. Read all about some of the cutest (and most unique) animals up for adoption this week right here!

Available for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter

King James
King James

Calling all rooster fans! King James was found wandering as a stray and never claimed. He is a big boy who loves his treats! He will follow you around and cluck to get your attention. James is social around other animals and has a curious and independent spirit. He has no problems being open and vocal when he feels happy. James can fly decently well for a chicken and will need an enclosed coop so he does not get loose. We know there’s a perfect family for him out there somewhere.

The Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter is not equipped to safely house animals other than dogs and cats long term. However, if an animal is in danger and needs housing temporarily until another rescue has room, the shelter does its best to provide for the animal. While the animal waits for space to open in another rescue, it will be available for adoption through the Adoption Center.

Apple Fritter 1
Apple Fritter

Look at this adorable girl, Apple Fritter! This gal is around 2 years old and was found wandering as a stray and never claimed. Apple Fritter is as sweet as her namesake and as loving as can be! She still shows a lot of fear from her time as a stray, so her ideal home will keep her active and give her the confidence she needs to enjoy life at its fullest. Apple Fritter will get along well with other gentle pets as well as with any children.

If you are interested in meeting Apple, call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting, which includes the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs, and Dog Walk trail. 631-360-7575.

Available for adoption at North Shore Animal League America

Josie
Josie

Josie (Adoption #H207462) has a lot to adjust to after the hardship of losing her home, but time and patience are their specialties at North Shore Animal League America. They’ve discovered she’s a big fan of brushing and chin rubs! Wouldn’t you like to be the one giving her so much happiness? An experienced, patient home with children (over age 12) and no other pets will have this timid beauty craving even more attention. Josie will be turning seven soon. We hope she’ll be celebrating her birthday with you!

Tutelo and Cayga
Tutelo and Cayga

**Double Adoption and Senior Alert** Tutelo (Adoption #BF2528) and Cayuga (Adoption #BF2529) have taken great comfort in each other’s company throughout their lives together. Despite their rough start, these 10-year-olds have settled into the next chapter of their adventure within the safety of Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. Brave Cayuga has been a great mentor to his shyer brother who builds up his courage a little more each day. You’ll find Tutelo gingerly joining in on treat parties with trusted friends. A patient, experienced adult will recognize the value of going slowly to build their trust. Your predictable home (with children over 12) will make their waiting for you worth it. Who can resist these dreamy eyes? This dynamic duo will capture your heart the moment you assure them they’re safe in your care.

Mittens
Mittens

Looking for a quiet friend with a penchant for tasty treats? Look no further than Marvelous Mittens (Adoption #H211189)! Three-year-old Mittens took his time settling into shelter life after being rescued locally from the outdoors. Now he feels purrfectly comfortable being visited by his human friends and doesn’t mind sharing with his roommates. His time outdoors left him FIV+, but this tender tuxedo will live the rest of his life safely indoors with a family who can appreciate his love of chasing feathers, his propensity for cat nip baths, and his fondness of a good, long chin scratch.

Malt and Milkshake
Malt and Milkshake

**Double Adoption** One-year-olds Malt (Adoption #H210996) and Milkshake (Adoption #H210997) needed help when allergies became an issue in the home they’d shared for most of their lives. Now safely nestled in a cozy cubby together in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, this very bonded pair of siblings will love each other through this temporary moment as we help them find a permanent home. While they wait, Malt enjoys chatty moments with visitors while her brother chases toys around the room. While the pair are overcoming their shyness, we’re seeking a calm household (with children over age eight) who will nurture away any apprehension they may bring with them as they resettle into family life in a new space.

Dempsey
Dempsey

**Senior Alert** It’s always sad for a senior to lose the home they’d known their whole lives, but 12-year-old Dempsey (Adoption #D43983) needed much more than moral support as he transitioned to a new life in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. This tender tabby needed to be restored to optimum health. Newly diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism, Dempsey has successfully responded to daily medication. He also received entropion repair surgery which immediately alleviated him of his discomfort. These conditions will be covered through our Pet Health Centers at cost. You’ll find Dempsey eager to repay the kindness he’s received, hopeful you’ll sit with him and rub his chin. Once you begin, you’ll never want to stop! Dempsey’s misfortune has turned into a new lease on life, and he’s hopeful he’ll share it with someone as special as you. Take this older gentleman into your heart and home.

Milo and Mova
Milo and Mova

**Double Adoption** Locally rescued Milo (Adoption #H211247) and Mova (Adoption #H211248) didn’t mind moving from their rescuer’s care into Bianca’s Furry Friends, and they don’t mind the busy activity of shelter days. As long as these loyal 1-year-old brothers have each other by their sides, they know they can get through anything.

Ollie
Ollie

One-year-old Ollie’s (Adoption #H210844) days are made brighter by soaking up the sun on the Catio! He’d love to be sunbathing by a window in his own home, one with one experienced adopter who can keep up with his zest for life. If you have no other pets (and no children under 16) in your home, consider saying yes to playful summer days with Ollie!

Smalls
Smalls

**Senior Alert** Absolutely adorable Smalls (Adoption #H203563) is killing everyone with his gratitude! This tender 9-year-old tabby recently lost his life-long home and is looking to North Shore Animal League America to make things right for him again. Considering how sweet and gentle he is, and how happy he is to greet every human who visits him, we’re very hopeful his fresh start is coming his way soon. If you have no other pets and would like to spend his golden years as his truly golden friend, your big heart could be what Smalls has been hoping to discover!  Email DoritS@animalleague.org for more information about Smalls and to arrange a meet and greet!

Zeus
Zeus

Available for adoption through Tender Loving Cats

Are you looking to adopt an active, energetic, and loving kitty? Then Zeus is for you! Since his rescue this handsome panther, not yet a year old, has shown his gratitude with his purring and happy love of life. He is very playful and needs a household where he can be kept busy by humans who will engage with him often or with a cat friend (or both). Fishing rod toys and cat track toys with balls are among his favorite activities.  Zeus was born with eyelid entropion but was surgically corrected and will not need further medical care. It was also determined that he has a food allergy which requires him to eat prescription hypoallergenic limited protein food. His adopter will have the ability to purchase his food at our cost for his lifetime. This food must be picked up from us, delivery is not available. Let find Zeus the forever home he deserves.

Marina
Marina

Marina is an energetic and curious little girl. She is the first one to show up to mealtime! Marina loves playing with her littermates and loves having her back and ears scratched. Marina is an extremely outgoing and lovely little kitten. Her joys in life include anything and everything that dangles, snuggles, and cat trees. She is quick to greet you with lots of purring as soon as you walk in. Marina does love to play with other cats, but she does need a little bit of time to warm up to them. You’ll never have to worry about a moment alone with her.

To adopt Zeus or Marina, complete and adoption application here: tenderlovingcats.org/adoption-application.html or schedule a meet and greet at Petsmart North Babylon, 1208 Deer Park Ave. by emailing meetthekitties@tenderlovingcats.org.
