Stitching Love And Baking Joy For Shelter Pets
Students at Roslyn Middle School participated in a service learning project as part of the FACS (Family and Consumer Science) curriculum— taught by teachers Liza Mancia and Rachel Frescott. They used their sewing skills to create toys for cats and dogs and donated them to the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington. Sixth-grade students also baked healthy Pumpkin Oatmeal treats for the dogs at the shelter.
“The students were highly motivated and eager to donate to the animal shelter,” said Ms. Frescott. The relationship with the shelter is expected to continue next year, with more opportunities for student involvement.
