On Saturday, April 20, 2024 George Dlugolonski was awarded Chaminade High School’s Ring of Honor Leadership Award in recognition of a life spent giving selflessly to generations of Flyers.
After graduating from SUNY Brockport in 1973, Dlugolonskibegan at Chaminade where he led the Wrestling program to countless championship titles and Sportsmanship Awards. Overfour decades he served as an educator, mentor, friend, and advocate for the students he taught in the classroom and on the mat. Throughout his career, Dlugolonski epitomized the John Wooden quote, “A good coach can change a game, a great coach can change a life.”
The Ring of Honor Leadership Award was just the most recent accolade Dlugolonski received. He was inducted into the New York State Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2007, the NYCHSAA Hall of Fame in 2008, the National Wrestling of Fame (Lifetime Service Award) in 2013, and the Dr.James Tolle/Nassau County High School Hall of Fame in 2019.

Dlugolonski also taught Physical Education and Health at Chaminade and served as the Department Chair for many years. He coached Freshman Soccer and supported many of the schools extracurricular activities.
Dlugolonski lives in Levittown with his wife Susan of 49 years. Together they raised three daughters. In his retirement, Dlugolonski enjoys fishing, traveling, and spending time with his seven grandchildren
