Here’s everything you need to know about Dave Kerpen, candidate for North Hempstead Town Supervisor in the 2025 elections.

Dave Kerpen is a serial entrepreneur, New York Times bestselling author, former school board member, and proud Port Washington resident running for town supervisor of North Hempstead.

He is the co-founder of Likeable Media and Apprentice, a platform connecting college students with top executives for mentorship and career development. He also serves as vice president on the board of Grateful Giving, a nonprofit that turns everyday purchases into micro-donations for good.

A graduate of Boston University and a product of New York City public schools, Dave has built a career — and a life — around listening, leading, and lifting others. He’s a New York Times bestselling author whose books on leadership and communication have sold nearly 1 million copies.

He’s been featured on “The Today Show,” in “Forbes Inc.,” and “Fast Company,” and named to Inc.’s “Top 10 Entrepreneurs to Follow.”

Dave proudly served on the Port Washington Board of Education, where he fought to deliver transparency, accountability, and excellence in our schools.

As a youth baseball coach, PTA dad, and local volunteer, Dave has worked alongside neighbors from every walk of life. He and his wife Carrie are raising their three children right here in North Hempstead — and he’s running to ensure they inherit a town that works better for everyone.

Why are you running for North Hempstead Town Supervisor?

I’m running because I believe our local government has forgotten who it’s supposed to serve. Town Hall should work for you, not for insiders or special interests. Residents deserve likeable leadership that shows up, follows through, and listens — not leadership that disappears once the election is over.

When I served on the school board, I learned the power of public service that puts people first. I showed up at every meeting, returned every email, and worked across lines to get things done. That’s the kind of leadership I’ll bring to Town Hall: practical, transparent, and relentlessly focused on results—less politics, more problem-solving.

I also launched the Moderate Party here in North Hempstead because too many of us feel politically homeless. We’re tired of the yelling on both extremes. I’m running as someone who will work with anyone and everyone to make North Hempstead better.

What are the top 3 issues North Hempstead is facing, and what would you do about them as town supervisor?

  1. Responsiveness and respect for residents: I’ve heard from so many neighbors who feel ignored — emails unanswered, calls not returned, simple requests lost in the shuffle. That’s unacceptable. I’ll implement a 48-hour response policy for all town inquiries, publish a public-facing performance dashboard, and bring town government to the people through regular listening tours and town halls in every community.
  2. Infrastructure and public spaces: Our roads are bumpy, our parks desperately need upgrades, and our town facilities are aging. As Supervisor, I’ll commission a full infrastructure audit and develop a public improvement plan that prioritizes safety, accessibility, and environmental sustainability. I’ll secure outside funding wherever possible and launch a “Parks 2.0” initiative to upgrade every park with better lighting, equipment, and amenities for kids, seniors, and everyone in between.
  3. Affordability and small business support: Our current supervisor boasts about tax cuts, but nobody I know feels like they’re paying less in taxes than they were four years ago. Nobody! North Hempstead should be a place where young families can afford to live and where older adults can afford to stay. I’ll advocate for housing options that meet diverse needs, reduce excessive fees on small businesses, and create a one-stop small business concierge to help entrepreneurs cut through red tape. Let’s make it easier — not harder — to thrive here.

I love this town. I’ve lived here, led here, raised a family here — and now I’m ready to serve here. I’m not a politician. I’m a dad, a neighbor, and a leader who listens. Let’s bring a new kind of leadership to North Hempstead — one that works for everyone.
