The Glen Cove Street Fair brought thousands of attendees to Glen Street and School Street Saturday, Sept. 13. The event featured live music, food trucks, vendors, games, bounce houses and activities.

“The street fair was a tremendous success thanks to the hard work of the Special Events Committee, Nassau County Fairs, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Events like this show the true spirit of Glen Cove,” said Mayor Pam Panzenbeck.

The street fair is an annual event put on by the city’s Special Events Committee, aiming to boost local businesses and tourism. The city partnered with Nassau County Fairs to provide over 85 vendors.

“Seeing our streets packed with neighbors, families, and visitors enjoying our vendors — and cheering on local talent like The Jam Brothers and Matt Pinto & Friends — was incredible,” said Roni Jenkins, the director of the committee.

Jenkins said the street fair has been a Glen Cove tradition since the 1970s, but this year’s was particularly special.

“This was our most vibrant fair yet, and we’re so grateful to the team and partners who made it happen. I especially want to recognize our Special Events Committee, an all-volunteer group whose time, creativity, and dedication make events like this possible,” she said.

This year the street fair had two new additions: a petting zoo and a beer garden. The petting zoo featured goats and sheep as well as pony rides.

The beer garden, a “mobile taproom” from Tapville, featured all Long Island draft beers on tap. The garden had Adirondack chairs, and was set up near the soundstage so visitors could enjoy live music, which played from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Vendors and attendees alike said the street fair helped build community within the city.

Pat McGroary, who ran one of the food trucks at the street fair, said it’s good to see people out on the streets.

“I think it’s great to see everybody together, it gets people out of the house,” he said.

Mike Roenbeck, who moved to Glen Cove six years ago, said he has supported the street fair each year.

“It’s a real nice opportunity for the local businesses,” he said.

Damary Mercado said the weather was perfect for the street fair and Glen Cove residents have shown good support.

“Our community comes out together a lot,” she said.

Panzenbeck thanked the city employees who worked on the event.

“I want to thank our dedicated city workers — including the Mayor’s Office, the Department of Public Works, the Glen Cove Police Department, and our Auxiliary Police — who ensured a smooth, safe day for all,” she said.
