Vs. Bagels and a Whole lot more “Wildcats”
The Blue Angels took on the always-tough Wildcats for a well-matched game. The offensive charge was led by Jackie Courtesis 4H, 1R, 1RBI, Sophia Leeds 4H, 2R, 1RBI, Amanda Garcia 3H, 1R, 2RBI, Brianna Kerrane 3H, 1R, 1RBI & Joanna Vissichelli 3 H 1R. Even though Gia Maniaci tallied 1 hit, she hit the ball very well each time she was at the plate and really made the other team work to get the out. Katie Fitzgerald, Tori Kaiser, & Claire O’Regan banged out 2 hits a piece, with Tori driving in a run. Michela Guira took some good cuts at the plate and tried her best. In the field the Angels continue to shine, with Joanna Vissichelli making the play of the game with a caught pop fly and stepping on 3rd base for a double play. The duo of Gia Maniaci at P & Sophia Leeds 1B combined for 3 put outs with Sophia making a total of 8 outs during the game. Jackie Courtesis at 3rd base caught a pop fly for an out and Amanda Garcia made a nice heads up play to catch a runner heading home. All the girls are doing great, trying their best, and really coming together as a team.

Dominick’s Italian & American Deli “Bandits” Vs. Glen Oaks “Mets”
Bandits were visitors to the Mets on Saturday. Defense was the name of the game for the Bandits. Caitlin Mahon went 3 strong innings on the mound giving up only 2 walks and getting 2 K’s. In relief, Brianna Patrizi pitched 2 frames with 4 K’s of her own, blanking the Mets in the 4th. Catching duties were handled by Erin Robinson & Nicole Rossello. Strong infield play by Sabrina Balducci, Chris Formica & Ana Lopez coupled with outstanding outfielders Victoria Pilosi & Cristina Talarico contributed to the dazzling ‘D’. Defensive gem came in the 2nd with a 7 – 4 throw out by Camila Dilone to Kate Booth.
Dr. William Facibene MD PC “Thunder” Vs. Knights of Columbus #2852 “Dragons”
The Thunder got back to playing games after a number of rain-outs, as they took the field against on Dragons. Despite losing 13-10, the Thunder made a valiant effort with a late game rally with runs scored by Mariella Facibene, Emily Hartman, Jenna Marshiano, Sophie Robinson, Katie DeMeo, Theresa Mattei and Christina Ferrante. Monica Mattei walked 3 times and stole 2 bases during the game.
Dr. William Facibene MD PC “Thunder” Vs. HBQVB
The Thunder took on the HBQVB at Tully Park. Megan Quintilliano had a big hit in the last inning to score Katie DeMeo and Mariella Facibene. Emily Hartman, Monica Mattei and Jenna Marshiano also scored during the contest. Sophie Robinson, Christina Ferrante, Kasey Borduas, Theresa Mattei and Elise Gonzalez anchored the Thunder’s defense with strong play in the field. Thunder Catcher Natalie Patrey was involved in a bone-crushing collision at home plate to get the out and prevent a run from scoring in a 17-7 Thunder loss.

Dr. William Facibene MD PC “Nationals” Vs. All County Business Solutions “Padres”
In one of their strongest offensive performances of the year, the Nationals scored 4 runs in 3 separate innings. Three Nationals—Shayne Simoncini, Alex Banks, & Matthew Reda—combined for a number of big hits and scored 2 runs apiece while Nicholas Barry reached base in all of his at-bats and scored 3 times. The strong hitting of John Tagios, Kevin Langan, P.J. Vayias & Daniel Mattei anchored the middle of a solid Nationals line-up. Moreover, some of the team’s younger players, Alan Birnbaum, Christopher Haughwout, Daniel Goldberg & John Vlantis, continue to show dramatic improvement on both offense and defense.

Notre Dame CYO “Cubs” Vs. The Fundamentals of Baseball “Dodgers”
The Dodgers bats were on fire with key RBI’s by Kevin Walsh, Joe Muratore, Cenzo Montoni, Matthew Merolla & Christian Goustas in the 1st and 2nd innings. The Dodgers added more runs in the later innings with RBI’s by Jordan Seidenberg, Andrew Ha, Alex O’Keefe, Paul DePaulis, Christian Zamora & Matthew Strocchia. Defense was also much improved with great plays in the infield by Cenzo Montoni, Joe Muratore, Jordan Seidenberg, Paul DePaulis & Matthew Merolla. The outfield left no gaps and was well covered by Christian Zamora, Alex O’Keefe, Kevin Walsh, Matthew Strocchia, Andrew Ha and Christian Goustas.Notre Dame CYO
“Cubs” Vs. The Fundamentals of Ball “Dodgers”
The Cubs came to the field to swing those bats. The hard hitters of the day were Christopher Bruccoleri, Benjamin Bidner, Kenny Gensch, Danny McClellan and Spencer Horowitz. Excellent hitting and smart base running abilities by Aaron Canese, Cole Someck, Christopher Chimenti, Christopher Mustakis-Giudice & Anthony Stigliano allowed the Cubs to have many productive high scoring innings. Excellent team defensive play helped the team keep the runs scored against us to a minimum.
New Hyde Elks “Braves” Vs. Modell’s “Twins”
The Braves were led by the hitting of Spencer Kern who had 3 long hits and 3 RBIs. Philip Schurr had 4 hits and made a nice play at the catcher position to get an important out. Adiran Balkcom had 3 hits and 3 RBIs and made a nice play to get an out at home. Jake Blancher, Dave Budhram, Demtrious Panouis, Ryan Lessing and Eric Madenberg each had 3 hits and an RBI. Philip Menist had 3 hits and 2 RBIs and played solid defense. Peter Carreca had 4 hits and 4 RBIs and made some nice plays in the field to help the Braves win tonight. Dave Budhram played solid defense on the pitchers mound to get two outs.

Fundamentals of Ball “Dodgers” Vs Modell’s “Twins”
The Dodgers began their scoring when Cenzo Montoni doubled in the first run. The Dodgers kept the game close with key force out plays by Matthew Merolla, Joe Muratore and Kevin Walsh! Paul DePaulis & Jordan Seidenberg was a great combo executing plays to first base. The Dodgers got back into the game when Christian Zamora, Chirstian Goustas, Ryan Gonzalez, Alex O’Keeefe & Andrew Ha hit singles to move the runners around the bases.

Baxter’s Sport Shop “ Diamondbacks” Vs. Kiwanis Club “Indians”
Despite a stunning 6th inning rally to tie the score, the Diamondbacks ultimately lost an exciting game 13-12 to the indomitable Indians. The Diamondbacks were led by the powerful and timely hitting of Jordan Greiff, Jack Tucker, Jared Kaiman & Christopher Kerrane. Pitching duties were performed admirably by Brian Volk, Jared Kaiman, Philip Chang and Elliot Weissman. Always hustling on the base paths & ready for action in the field were Charlie Goodwin, Dylan Kareff & Craig Cagner.
Stutzmann Funeral Home “Angels” Vs. New Hyde Park Funeral Home “Cardinals”
Phillip Schifilliti pitched 2 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts, Andrew Colgan did not allow a run and struck out 2 in his inning of work and John Napolitano struck out four batters in the first 2 innings. The Angels continue to swing hot bats with Jimmy Denara smacking 2 singles and a RBI, Michael Zuschlag and Patrick McTiernan each getting a hit and an RBI and John Denara smashing a base hit of his own. Speedsters Matt Solomon and Andrew Yun stole a total of four bases and James Castaldi, Stephen Guy and Matt Baronci provided solid defense in the field.

New Hyde Park Funeral Home “Cardinals” Vs. Stutzmann Funeral Home “Angels”
Pitching ace Anthony Pitre was not only dominant on the mound with 4 strikeouts, but contributed offensively with 2 hits, 3 stolen bases and 2 runs scored and was solid behind the plate at catcher. Thomas Mangin, also solid on the hill with 2 strikeouts, was followed by an impressive first-time pitching performance from Michael Mellone who had 4 strikeouts while contributing offensively with a single, a stolen base and 3 RBIs. Alessandro Lacerra, who had a single, a walk, 2 stolen bases and 2 scored runs also contributed defensively by turning a spectacular unassisted double play at third base. Jared Hodes and Ryan Cooney each drove in a run while Ryan Hodes, Scott Schanter, Dylan Schmid and Lance Montalbano all flashed the leather in the field.

Stutzmann Funeral Home “Angels” Vs. Grant Thornton “Brewers”
The Angels’ 5 game winning streak came to an end tonight against an impressive Brewers team. The Angels’ defense kept this game close all the way with Stephen Guy making the play of the game by catching a long fly ball in leftfield to end the inning with the bases loaded. James Castaldi and Andrew Yun also flashed some leather by scooping up hot groundballs in the infield and making unassisted put-outs. Strong defense was also provided by Philip Schifilliti and Matt Baronci who made nice plays in the field. Andrew Colgan struck out 4 batters in 2 innings and John Napolitano struck out 3. The offense was led by the Denara brothers who both went 2 for 2 with a walk and 2 stolen bases, while Michael Zuschlag laced a single of his own to knock in a run. Matt Solomon continued his stolen base streak by swiping 2.
Baxter’s Sport Shop “Diamondbacks” Vs. Hillside Beverage “Rangers”
The Baxter’s Sport Shop Diamondbacks played probably their best all-around game of the season in their 9-2 victory over the rollicking Rangers. Stellar pitching from Brian Volk, Philip Chang and Jordan Greiff kept the mighty Rangers at bay. Hitting stars of the game included Ben Newman, Charlie Goodwin, Christopher Kerrane and Jordan Greiff. Tight defense was turned in by Elliot Weissman, Jared Kaiman, Raymond Gresalfi, Dylan Kareff and Craig Cagner

New Hyde Park Funeral Home “Cardinals” Vs. Kiwanis Club “Indians”
In a true gem of a Little League game, pitching was the name of the game on both sides of the field as the Cardinals squared off against the Indians today. Pitchers Thomas Mangin and Anthony Pitre led the way with 5 strikeouts each while Alessandro Lacerra closed out the game with 2 strikeouts of his own. In this low scoring game, the leather was flashed all over the field by Michael Mellone, Ryan Hodes, Ryan Cooney and Dylan Schmid.

Vs. Knights of Columbus No. 2852 “Rockies”
The bats came alive for the Baxter’s Sport Shop Diamondbacks in their stirring 15-12 victory versus the relentless Rockies. Hitting stars included Jack Tucker (multiple RBIs), Ben Newman (multiple RBIs), Jared Kaiman, Charlie Goodwin, Jordan Greiff and Philip Chang (key hit). Holding down the fort on the mound were the terrific team of Jack Tucker, Elliot Weissman, Charlie Goodwin, Craig Cagner and Dylan Kareff. Providing dependable defense were Brian Volk (2 strong innings behind the plate) and Dylan Schwartz.

Plain and Fancy Landscaping “Rays” 9 Vs. Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman & Mackauf “Astros” 4
The Astros came out sluggish in their game against the Rays, but the Astros turned it on as the game proceeded. The Astros were led by the pitching staff of Tyler Weiss, Dylan Silverstein & Mike Hershenhorn. David Lapidus caught for 2 innings and stole a couple of bases while Luke Hoffman caught 4 innings stole 3 bases and scored twice. Slater Dvoor and Kyle Berlinsky were also solid in the field. Andrew Kadish, Adam Krieger and Cole Romano tried to get the offense fired up, but, in the end, their efforts couldn’t turn the game around for the Astros.

The Rays bats finally came to life today with big hits off the bats of Jack Nutall, Matt Mastoridis, Anthony Lanzilotta, Christian Carrick & Phil Silverstein all knocking in RBI’s. There was excellent defense in the field by Max Cohn, Nevin Nambiar & Domenick Patrizi. Great job by our call up Anthony Carbone who walked, stole a couple of bases & scored. Great job behind the plate was performed by Matty Lorandini. Our pitching was stellar with Christian striking out 7, Matt Mastoridis making his pitching debut striking out 4 & Anthony Lanzilotta closing out the game with 3 straight strikeouts.

Plain and Fancy “Rays” 4 Vs. BAB Mechanical Services “Red Sox” 1
The bats were hot, Anthony Lanzilotta started the excitement with a double, followed by base hits from Christian Carrick & Jack Nuttall 2 runs were scored and the Rays led it 2-0. The bats got hotter in the 5th with a walk from Nick Favale, an awesome double by Michael Rhindress & a screaming base hit from Nevin Nambiar. Ray’s led it 4-1 in the 5th. There was great fielding from Matty Lorindini, Shin Oka, Matthew Mastoridis, Max Cohn, Dominick Patrizi & Nick Favale. The temperature rose from hot pitching. Christian Carrick threw 30 pitches to 9 batters in the 1st and 2nd inning. He had 4 strike outs, giving up no runs and 1 hit. TJ Goustas had an outstanding 3rd, 4th and 5th inning pitching to 13 batters, getting 8 strike outs. He threw 44 pitches allowing only 1 hit and 1 run. Anthony Lanzilotta had double duty protecting the plate with outstanding catching. He closed the 6th inning throwing 20 pitches to 5 batters. He struck out 1, walked one and allowed only 1 hit. Ray’s win it 4-1! Happy Mothers Day, Moms!
City Line Florist “Blue Jays” 4 Vs. Ridgewood Savings Bank “Reds” 6
The Blue Jays came out and scored 3 quick runs led by Vincent Rossello’s double with sacks loaded driving in 2. Matt O’Connor scored the first run and had 2 walks, Gregory Donovan dropped a nice bunt and eventually scored, and Jack Briamonte hit a double to lead the offense. The pitching was strong as usual led by Louis Plomitallo 3 innings and 7 Ks. The fielding was strong led by, infielders Fran Labita, Joe Joe Del Giorno, Mike Lynch, Tyler Baron and Brandon Malhotra.
City Line Florist “Blue Jays” 7 Vs. Hand Rolled Bagels “Pirates” 1
The Blue Jays did all tonight, hit, pitch, run & field, led by Brian Park’s HR and 3 innings of strong pitching. Gregory Donovan got the win with a good 3 innings of pitching. Joe Joe Del Giorno’s triple with 2 on was the key hit in a big inning. Other big hits came from Josh Putter (double), Fran Labita (double), Tyler Baron (double), Jack Briamonte (double) Matt O’Connor (triple), Mike Lynch (single) and Vincent Rossello (single).

Bagels and A Whole Lot More “Bears” Vs. Virgilio Chiropractic “River Sharks”
The River Sharks came from behind to beat the Bears by the score of 9 – 8. An array of pitching efforts came from Max Nettler, Brian Haug, Giovanni Castelli, Justin DiDonato & Frankie DeSanto. This was truly a “team effort”. The River Sharks had a great day at the plate with 90% of the team reaching base. A good eye at the plate drew walks by James Messina & Peter Colletti. Frankie DeSanto, Brian Haug, Ross Crames & Justin DiDonato all had base hits. Exciting clutch hits came from Joe Pagan (2 singles), Giovanni (triple, single), and Ethan Schonhaut (double.) The timing of these hits is what makes baseball a great game to play and watch. Even though they were down by 6 runs, they never gave up as a team. Their efforts and support of each other was a true test of character.

Chiropractic “River Sharks” 3
The Ducks just fell short of what looked like a come from behind rally. Brennan Scanlon made his return from the DL pitching well. Also on the mound for the Ducks, Adeel Bari and Evan Clark did good jobs holding a tough River Shark team to 3 runs. Behind the plate, Mike Kemmet caught well. Defensively, fans were awed by Ben Lee, and Mike Lopez’ spectacular catches in center field. Mathew Chaleff was solid at 3rd base. Plays by Justin Marder, Justin Roth, Ethan Volk, Andrew Curcio, Tom Kemmet, & Bret Dieber all contributed to solid fielding. Offensively, the Ducks just fell short of catching the River Sharks. Ben Lee, Adeel Bari, Ethan Volk, Bret Dieber, Thomas Kemmet, Mike Kemmet, Andrewv Curcio, Justin Roth, Mike Lopez, & Justin Marder, combined a series of hits walks, stolen bases, rbi’s, and batters hit by pitches, to rally for 2 runs. In the end the ducks were just short of catching the River Sharks.

The River Sharks beat the Ducks by a score of 3 – 2 to bring them to .500 ball. A solid defensive game of baseball was played by both teams. The pitching was led by Justin DiDonato & Peter Colletti. James Messina’s double and Giovanni’s triple were all the hits the River Sharks needed to keep the score at bay. A great defensive team effort was made by Brian Haug, Joe Pagan, James Colgan, Max Nettler & Ethan Schonhaut. James Messina (behind the plate) and Giovanni Castelli (at second base) had the play of the game with a strike ‘em out/ throw ‘em out in the last inning.

Vs. Doctor William Facibenne MD PC “Cyclones” 3
What a game! The score tells it all. Although the Ducks were on the short end by a run, efforts on the mound by Ben Lee, and Bret Dieber were awesome. Behind the plate, Mike Kemmet, Adeel Bari, and Mike Lopez were excellent. In the field Andrew Curcio made a great diving catch, with Justin Marder, Justin Roth, Tom Kemmet, and Ethan Volk playing solid defense. Offensively, the Ducks were tenacious against good cyclone pitching. Mike Lopez, Adeel Bari, Ethan Volk, Justin Marder, Andrew Curcio, and Mike Kemmet all hit producing stolen bases, walks, rbi’s to score 2 runs. Pitching was dominate this evening and made for a great game.
