Vs. Notre Dame CYO “Cubs”
The Braves were lead by Philip Schurr who had 4 hard hits today and played nice defense catching. The highlight play of the game goes to Philip Menist on the pitchers mound. Philip Menist caught the ball and threw the runner out at second base with a strong throw and a great catch by Jake Blancher. Jake had 2 hits and an Rbi. Eric Madenberg hit a long double to drive in 2 runs as he went 4 for 4 at the plate. Dave Budhram and Demtrious Panouis were both 3 for 3 with 3 RBI. Spencer Kern was 3 for 3 and hit the ball hard all day and finished with 3 RBI. Peter Carreca was 4 for 4 with 2 Rbis. Philip Menist was 4 for 4 with 2 Rbis as he helped the Braves today with his bat and defense.

Vs. Fundamentals of Ball “Dodgers”
The Dodgers continue to improve on their defense. Mathew Merolla won another gold glove award at first base. Gold glove awards were also given to Jordan Seidenberg, Joey Muratore, Paul Depaulis, Cenzo Montoni, Alex Okeefe and Kevin Walsh for making multiple force outs and for one solid 123 inning. Batting trophies for hitting frozen ropes were awarded to Cenzo Montoni, Jordan Seidenberg, Mathew Merolla, Christian Zammora, Mathew Strocchia, and Paulie Depaulis. Look out Cubs, the Dodgers are coming to town on Friday!

Vs. Dr. Margaret Zadnik, DDS, PC “Phillies”
A tremendous outing for the mighty Cardinals who not only displayed patience at the plate and solid fielding, but demonstrated perseverance against a very good Phillies team this evening. Pitcher Anthony Pitre led the way with 5 strikeouts while Scott Schanter closed out the game with 1 strikeout of his own. The offensive star for the Cardinals was Jared Hodes who hit a bases-loaded double which drove in 3 runs and tied the game. Alessandro Lacerra, who had a single, 3 walks, 3 stolen bases, 1 RBI and scored 3 runs, did a fine job behind the plate at catcher the entire game. Michael Mellone also contributed offensively with 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored while Ryan Hodes and Christopher Delgiorno displayed patience at the plate with 3 walks and 2 runs scored between the two of them. Dylan Schmid and Lance Montalbano each flashed the leather in the field. A special thanks to call-up Matthew Rivera who not only had a single, 2 RBI and scored a run, but was quite impressive in the outfield. Go Cardinals!

Knights of Columbus #2852 “Rockies” Vs. Hillside Beverage “Rangers”
Strong pitching performances by Danny Kosofsky, Tyler Witt, Michael Feinsilver and George Vlantis led the Rockies once again to victory. Tyler Witt and George Vlantis led the team with a combined 9 RBI’s in the team’s season high 15 runs scored. Also contributing to the offense were Gregory Andreopoulos, Bailey Lee and Juilian Montenegro. Excellent plays on the field were made by Jake Glueck, Max Uribe and Adam Sperling.

“Cardinals” Vs. Knights of Columbus No. 2852 “Rockies”
Another well-played game for the mighty Cardinals who continued to display patience at the plate and defensive excellence against a very good Rockies team this evening. Pitcher Anthony Pitre led the way with 2 strikeouts while Alessandro Lacerra not only closed out the game with 3 strikeouts of his own but contributed offensively with 2 RBIs, the latter on a hard shot to second with the bases-loaded. The offensive stars for the Cardinals were Michael Mellone (double, 3 stolen bases, 1 run scored), Scott Schanter (2 singles, 1 RBI) and Ryan Hodes (single, stolen base, 2 RBIs). Jared Hodes also contributed offensively with a walk and a run scored while Thomas Mangin scored two runs and made a tremendous play in the infield and nailed a runner at home to end the threat of a Rockies rally. Dylan Schmid not only got his first hit of the season, but once again flashed the leather in the field with a spectacular grab of a hard hit ball to third base. Go Cardinals!

The Diamondbacks opened up the 2009 Upper Farms playoffs with an exciting victory over the battling Brewers. The game was tight most of the way, thanks to the outstanding pitching of Philip Chang, Brian Volk, Elliot Weissman and Jordan Greiff. Providing the offense were Jack Tucker (multiple hits), Jared Kaiman, Jordan Greiff (multiple hits, including a HR), Ben Newman, Brian Volk and Elliot Weissman. Anchoring the defense were Dylan Kareff, Christopher Kerrane and Raymond Gresalfi.

The Rangers played one of their best games of the season. The entire team came ready to play. Sean McClellan lead the Rangers offense by going 2 for 3 with a single and a bases loaded triple driving in 4 RBI’s. Conner Wong and Dominick Piccirillo provided the Rangers with outstanding pitching performances. Between them they allowed just 2 runs in four innings pitched.

A game from May 3rd that was suspended by rain. The game was picked up at the top of the 4th inning with 2 outs and runners on 1st& 3rd. Pitching by Harris Monoson & Joey Leonardo combined for a total of 12 strikeouts. The offense was led by Joey Dunn, Nick Mangia, and Harris Monoson all with key hits and runs scored. Joey Leonardo held the 1 run lead by striking out 5 of the last 6 batters. The defense was strong with Ryan O’Donnell behind the plate and Michael Telsey and Thomas Puglia sharp at their positions. A big thanks to Thomas Messina & Lou Mangia for their short notice activations. The Mariners are really coming on strong!

With a strong defense behind them pitchers Nick Mrakovcic and Joey Leonardo gave up only 2 runs. Busy behind the plate was Nick Mangia & Joey Dunn throwing or tagging out base runners attempting to steal. Harris Monoson, Eric Mollin, Ryan O’Donnell, & Thomas Puglia made nice plays in the field. Michael Telsey made a nice sliding catch to end the game and also led the offense with a triple. Joey Dunn, Nick Mangia, Joey Leonardo, and Harris Monoson also had key hits. The Mariners seemed put it all together offensively and defensively. Let’s keep it going!

Jason Seidman was solid as our anchor behind the plate and Eric Gonzalez, Steven Casio, Michael Fiala and Christopher Vietri all played a nifty outfield for the victory.

A rain shortened 1 inning game that saw plenty of action, including Tyler Baron’s 2009 pitching debut and Louis Plomitallo’s 2 run bomb. Others with hits came from Vincent Rossello and Greg Donovan and walks from Joe Del Giorno, Brian Park, Josh Putter, Mike Lynch and Fran Labita hit the ball hard.

The Blue Jays competed very well in their playoff game as they did all year. Louis Plomatillo 1st inning HR started things well for the Blue Jays. The defense and strong pitching kept the game tight, the outfielders held 2 long drives to triples and Vincent Rossello threw a runner out at the plate. The infield saw sparkling plays from Joe Joe Del Giorno at short, Greg Donovan at second, Brian Park at third, Matt O’Connor at first base, Fran Labita, Josh Putter (catcher) and Brandon Malhorta (outfield). The strong pitching came from Louis and Vincent (4 shut out innings after the 1st inning). The offense saw some good efforts from Matt Bateman (double & walk), Tyler Baron (1 hit), Jack Briamonte (walk) and Greg (sac), to go along with Louis’ 2 hits (HR & double).

On the mound for the Ducks Evan Clark and Justin Marder pitched well. Mike Kemmet and Adeel Bari provided solid catching. Defense for the Ducks were assisted today by two call ups, Anthony and Christian, along with Matthew Chaleff, Ethan Volk, and Andrew Curcio provided solid fielding. Offensively, Anthony, Christian, Matthew, Andrew, Evan, Ethan, Adeel, Justin, and Mike combined a series of walks, singles, a double, steals, and bunts to score 4 runs. Great game boys!

Vs. Bagel n a Whole Lot More “Bears” 7
What a game! After trailing 5-0 before even batting the Cyclones mounted a furious comeback scoring 3 in the fourth inning and took the lead on a Grand Slam HR hit by Guiseppe LoDuca in the fifth inning. Trailing 7-6 the Bears tied it in the sixth inning. However, the never say die Cyclones won the game in the last inning when Tyler Ng doubled and stole home for the walk off win. John Young hit a HR and struck out 9 bears in 4 innings. Matt Theodorpoulos and Jon Cioffi were both 2 for 3. Cioffi struck out 5 Bears in the last 2 innings. Peter Dunn, Brandon Martinez were both 1 for 3. Jeff Gordon and Edik Imanov continue to play good defense.

In the best played game of the Spring Season pitching and defense were the stars of the game. In a game that lasted 8 innings Jonathan Cioffi held the Ducks to 1 run while relying on 3 double plays being turned behind him. Guisippe LoDuca continued his extremely hot hitting with a HR in the second and fourth inning placing the Cyclones in the lead both times. Kudos to Brandon Martinez, Matt Theodorpoulos, Nick Winkhart, Mitch Cohen, Peter Dunn, Edik Imanov and Tyler Ng for executing the best defense of the year. Congratulations to John Young for pitching 4 brilliant innings. He struck out 9 to earn the win. With the win the boys finish the season in first place and anxiously await the start of the playoffs.

Our hats go off to these teams for providing all with a thriller going an extra inning to decide a winner. The Ducks pitching was brilliant with Ben Lee, Bret Dieber, and Justin Marder on the hill. Behind the plate Evan Clark and Mike Kemet were excellent. In the field, many great plays including diving catches, and put outs, made by Adeel Bari, Justin Roth, Tom Kemet, Andrew Curcio, Mike Lopez, and Ethan Volk. Offensively, the Ducks came from behind to tie the game at the bottom of the 6th inning. With a few walks, bunts, singles, and stolen bases, the Ducks scratched out 2 runs, ending in a tie game after 7 innings of play. What a game!

Offensively, Tom “Kaboom” Kemmet, and “Bashing” Ben Lee each slammed HRs. Mike Lopez, Brennan Scanlon, Evan Clark, Andrew Curcio, Mike Kemmet, Ethan Volk, Bret Dieber, Justin Marder, Matthew Chaleff, & Justin Roth all combined a series of hits, walks, stolen bases, sac flies, rbi’s, and tenacious at bats to talley up 8 runs against a tough Bears defense. Defensively, Ducks pitching was superb! Brennan “Big Dawg” Scanlon, no hits for 2 innings pitched, Justin Marder, 1 hit for 2 innings pitched, Ben Lee, 1 hit for 2 innings pitched. Evan Clark, Mike Lopez, and Mike Kemmet were flawless behind the plate. In the field Andrew Curcio, had his name inscribed on 2 great catches in right field. Ben Lee also would deny the Bears solid contact by 2 terrific catches. Ethan Volk, Bret Dieber, Tom Kemmet, Matthew Chaleff, & Justin Roth were flawless in the field. Adeel Bari was on the DL from an injury sustained in a prior game, but was there to motivate his team to victory. Good luck to the Ducks in the playoffs!

What an awesome game! It was our last regular game of the season. The River Sharks played a great game against the Pride. The game ended with a tied score of 3, after 7 innings. Our offense was led by Giovanni Castelli with a triple, Brian Haug & James Messina each with a double, and singles by Ross Crames, James Colgan and Frankie Suppa. Good defensive plays by Joseph Pagan, Justin DiDonato, Maxwell Nettler and Frankie DiSanto. Thanks to Michael Carbone who was called up to help the team.

The River Sharks won their first play- off game against a tough Bears team by a score of 5 – 3. This was a good baseball game played by both teams. The mound was commanded by Justin DiDonato and Frankie DeSanto. Defensively, the team was ready in the field with great plays made by Frankie Suppa and Frankie DeSanto including an exciting double play by Joe Pagan, Ross Crames and James Colgan. James Messina played a solid game behind the plate. Offensively, the bats were definitely alive with a triple and double by Ross Crames, a double and a single by Frankie DeSanto, 2 singles each by James Messina and Brian Haug and a single by Justin DiDonato. Ethan Schonhaut and Max Nettler gave a great team effort at the plate to complete the River Sharks team. Great job guys!
