Proceeds to Go to HHS Scholarship
A fire that swept through the second floor of an Acre Lane home July 8 claimed the life of 23-year-old Richard “Ricky” Greene. On Sunday, Sept. 13, Ricky’s co-workers at Boulder Creek will join together to celebrate the life of their late friend and manager.
The Ricky Greene Memorial Benefit will be held at the North Broadway steakhouse and begin at 9 a.m. with breakfast and a ceremony. There will be special guest speakers, including Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Rose Marie Walker who will present a proclamation to dedicate the North Broadway restaurant in Ricky’s name. A plaque will also be dedicated and hung in Ricky’s honor and a fire safety demonstration will be held.
In addition to free breakfast, the fundraiser will feature entertainment, a bake sale and a raffle drawing. All are welcome to enjoy good food and take a chance at the dunk tank while sharing memories of Ricky. Local businesses seeking to donate services, products and/or gift certificates are needed and all donors will be recognized on the sponsor board displayed at the event.
Admission is free and all proceeds from the benefit will go to a Hicksville High School Scholarship being established in Ricky’s name. This scholarship will benefit a student who excels in theater, an art Ricky himself truly loved and excelled in himself.
According to friends and co-workers, Ricky was a “kind spirit and gentle heart” who would do “absolutely anything to make the lives of his friends and family easier and more enjoyable.” Not only was he an “incredible manager to his loyal employees” but also a great friend with whom you would want to take in a Mets game, play a round of golf with or challenge to a game of poker. He was a huge NY Giants fan, enjoyed fishing and was also very fond of the Harry Potter series.
