Vs.Bagels & A Whole Lot More Garden City “Dodgers”
The Athletics started their season off today with a close game against the Dodgers. All of the players showed enthusiasm and that they are learning the fundamentals of the game. The hit parade was led by John Vlantis and Jack Kareff. Jesse Witt showed a live arm and slick glove and Jack Nathan made a couple of nice stops at second base.

Vs. Stutzman “Cubs”
It was a well played game on both sides. There were great plays in the field by Alessandro Gullo and Stephen Bracco. Offensive stars for the Braves were Erik Lyngstad Hughes, Andrew Wang and Daniel Raziyev with 3 hits each. Jackson Aquino, Ryan Wasserman, Joshua Raziyev, Daniel Garcia and Atillio Lamoretti with 2 hits each. Kenny Hirschfeld also contributed with 1 hit. Play Ball! Opening day to fall baseball started with four quick runs in the first as Nicholas Marsella, Paulie Depaulis, Cenzo Montoni, and Mathew Merolla each had one RBI. Justin Marsella led off the top of the second by beating a close play at first. That opened the flood gates for four more runs as Michael Campagnuoplo and Joe Muratore each had hits to load the bases and later scored with clutch Dodger hitting. The Dodgers fielding resumed where it had left off last season in the last inning when a 1 to 3 doubleplay to end the game was recorded by Cenzo Montoni and Mathew Merolla.

The Diamondbacks had a short lineup down at the yard this week. The teams Slugger Awards go to C. Carbone, P. Carreca, D Kareff, C.Cooney and CJ Riccobono. Our teams Gold Glove Awards Go to C. Carbone and CJ Riccobono. Till next time always run ‘em out.

Vs.Ridgewood Savings Bank “Angels”
In what proved to be a very exciting fall season opening game, the mighty Cardinals displayed tremendous offensive power and solid fielding against a very good Angel’s team today. The hitting assault was led by John Napolitano (single, double, 3 RBIs, 1 run scored), Andrew Colgan (3 singles, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored), Sean Fishbein (2 singles, triple, 2 runs scored) and Sean O’Connor (2 singles, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored). Also contributing with a hot bat was Jake Glueck, who got things started with a hard line drive double into right centerfield. Slugger Anthony DePompeis not only drove in two runs with a single and double but also threw out a runner at 1st base from right centerfield. Joseph Griffin, Kenny Gensch and Michael Mellone combined for 5 singles while each drove in a run and scored a run. Scott Schanter made a sliding grab of a ball hit into right centerfield and followed with a great throw into 2nd base which prevented the runner from advancing. Grant Joseph and Alessandro Lacerra each drove in a run and also flashed the leather in the field. Go Cardinals!

The Angels started the season swinging the bats. Alex Russo went two for two with a double. Joe Dampman was two for two with an RBI. Dean Vayias drove in a run and Mathew O’Neill also went two for two.

Vs Bagels and A Whole lot More Garden City “Dodgers”
The Dodgers behind two 1 to 4 force outs by Joey Muratore and Cenzo Montoni, as well as a diving scoop at first base by Matthew Merolla, saved the lead in the second. Justin Yang in the third made three unassisted force outs at third to keep the Braves to only two runs. Doubles by Paulie Depaulis and Daniel McClellan sparked more offense in the bottom of the third. RBI’s by Steven DeRocchis, Michael Campagnuolo and Justin Marsella helped to maintain the lead. Lastly, the team displayed excellent base-running skills and get an A+ for the hustle factor.

Vs. Stutzmann Funeral Home “Cubs”
It was a strong team effort, Jared Puntus sparkled in the field with several nice plays, nearly catching a line drive and scoring two runs. Jesse Witt played a great defensive game, catching an inning, getting a runner out at home plate to save a run and making several nice stops in the field. Louis Messina, batting leadoff, started several rallies and scored two runs. Ryan Lessing had the hit of the game, smashing a line drive double to the outfield, getting 3 RBIs. Jack Kareff got several hits and played a great shortstop. The “Eli Goodwin, Matthew Farkas and Jack” combination helped the Athletics demonstrate why they might have one of the most formidable infields in the league.

Vs. Hillside Beverage “Diamondbacks”
It was another great outing for the mighty Cardinals who not only displayed tremendous offensive power but demonstrated defensive excellence against a very impressive Diamondbacks team today. The hitting assault was led by Anthony DePompeis who drove in 3 runs with 2 monster HRs, the second of which tied the game in the bottom of the 6th inning, John Napolitano who drove in 3 runs with a single and HR of his own, and Michael Mellone who drove in 2 runs with 2 doubles, the second of which scored the game winning run. Also swinging a hot bat were Andrew Colgan (single, triple, 1 run scored) and Sean O’Connor (single, double, 1 run scored). Sean Fishbein, Jake Glueck and Joseph Griffin combined for 3 singles, an RBI and 2 runs scored. Scott Schanter hit a single and cleanly fielded two hard hit ground balls to shortstop while Alessandro Lacerra made an impressive play in the infield with an unassisted force out at third base. Josh Rubin caught two high pop-ups to second base including a great over-the-shoulder catch while Grant Joseph not only ran in from right field to save a run on a back-up of a throw to first base, but did a solid job behind the plate as catcher. Kenny Gensch also flashed the leather in the field. Go Cardinals.
