The 11-year-old Hicksville Crusaders traveled to Bellmore last week to take on the Braves.
Unfortunately by the time game day arrived the Hicksville team would have battle without three of their soldiers, so the Crusaders reworked their attack plan and replaced the missing offensive lineman with Joe Roach and Chris Lane who, along with Damian Cardalena, Nick Passcucci, Matt Feaster, Raymond Pietzak and Bob Barbosa, man handled the Braves’ defensive line all day to allow touchdowns by Nico Mueller, Anthony Rolston and two by Luke Walker. Fullback Matt Roberts had a field day running for over one hundred yards behind the blocking of the front line.
The Crusaders held the Braves scoreless well into the third quarter due to an outstanding defensive team effort by Nico Mueller, Matt Roberts, Tom Anglin, Lou Valentino, Joe Roach, Damian Cardalena, Alan Stein, Steven Wyatt, Chris Lane, Joe Panetta, Bob Barbosa, Luke Walker, Sam Ingardia, Nick Passcucci, Matt Feaster, Jeffery Aguilar, Robert Paradiso and Raymond Pietzak.
In the end, the Crusaders beat Bellmore 27-20 to increase their season record to 4-0.
