10/11 Green: The 10 and 11-year-old Farmingdale Green Titans earned their
first win of the 2009 season under the lights at Allen Park on Sept. 26. Tommy McPartand, centered by Frankie D’Andrea, rushed for an outstanding four touchdowns. Newcomers to the team, Frank Trocchia and Jack McCaffery had great catches to help out on offense. The offensive line led by Chris Maddalone, Jake Swift, Ryan Clark and Allison Shamir (after a long day of dress shopping), did a great job blocking for Tommy. Bobby Norton got the defense fired up with a huge QB sack. The defense, anchored by Joey Tristano, Ryan Grossmann, Bryce Andros, Cosmo Marino, Joey Baccarella, Jawal Jordan and Anthony Steinheimer held Seaford to just 13 points. Malik Exantus had a great interception in the third quarter to also help out on defense. New additions Kyle Giovannelli, Andy Rolle, Justin Galasso all played a big part in the Titans first win. The Titans look to continue their winning ways this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. vs. Plainedge.
8/9 Green: Titan Green team visited the Levittown Red Devils in week 4 of the season, Oct. 4. Levittown held the Titans for four downs and took control of the ball. The Titan’s first team defense allowed no points and the Titans took possession of the ball once again. Matty O., returning after two weeks of contract disputes, lined up the offense and sent Mike Trocchia on a post pattern play. While in full stride, Trocchia extended his arms and the ball dropped in over his shoulder for a 35-yard pass completion and a 20-yard run for a touchdown. Then it was Trocchia again, led by excellent blocking from Jonathan Krawchuk and Michael Grossmann, around the end for the extra point. Titans 7-0.
The Red Devils would answer back with a seven down drive resulting in six points. James, Baranello and Germain orchestrated a goal line stance denying the Red Devils the extra point. As the Titans took over, the coaches looked to Sean Hellmich,who ran the ball instinctively behind Sean Carney and Matty B’s outstanding blocking. Hellmich carried five times for 45 yards, setting up the next series. Matty O. went with a quarterback keeper as Dante Coleman took out two Red Devils at the same time. Matty O. was able to sneak through the cracks and into the end zone making it 13-6 Titans.
Levittown again fought back tying the game at 13-13. Things got shaky as the Titans went four and out giving the Red Devils a chance to go ahead. As the Red Devils lined up, Sullivan, Perez and Thiel got the blitz signal from the coach. The efforts of all three combined caused havoc in the back field forcing Levittown’s quarterback to throw the ball. Once up in the air, Meyer made a diving catch to intercept the ball on the 45-yard line. That was the key play of the day. The Titans secured the victory on another running touchdown from their quarterback Matty O., ending the game 20-13.
