Roaring Tigers 3-1 Long Beach Riptides
With the talk of a nor-easter headed our way we were unsure if the game would be played on Saturday but the girls came with one thing in mind and that was to pick up a win from the Long Beach Riptides. The Roaring Tigers felt every bit of confidence playing when they know Olivia Lugo is in goal. Olivia making four great saves including coming way out of net and stealing the ball from a Riptide’s fast break just inside the box helping her team shutting out Long Beach for the first half. The Roaring Tigers defense was all over the Riptides like a tidal wave in the sea and leading the tsunami was Camryn Dluginski, Ally Petricca, Lauren Perlman, and Deirdre Lynch. Offense has been hard at work picking up where they’ve left off from the tournament play, with superb passing and aggressive style of play led by Siobhan McMullan, Joryn Siegel, Dylan Sanders. Now finding a spot up front on the offense Bethany Ambrosio showed quick moves and a strong kick was robbed once of a goal but came back with a her first goal for the team and first of the season. In the second half the Roaring Tigers stepped up their offense with some superb passing by Jordyn who passed from the right side corner, across the Riptides goalie box to Olivia on the left side of the field to slam it back over the goalies head. Then again mid way in second half Jordyn starting a fast break but was squeezed in between two defenders she kept her head up an saw an open lane for a pass to Olivia in the open field for her second goal of the game. Marisa Menist stepped in as the second half goalie and made six great stops in between the pipes, while just letting one close shot pass for the Riptides only goal of the game. We missed the help of Shayna Zeitlin and Silvana Siedita.

NASSAU MAJOR, NHP – 6, Auburndale -1
On a cold and damp October day, the girls warmed the hearts of their parents and teammates with a dominating display of passing and attacking en route to a 6-1 route of Auburndale in the Nassau Major Division. Setting the tempo for the attack was Tiffany Velin, who had a fantastic match – netting 3 goals and setting up 2 others. Other game balls went to Izzy Glennon and Kaitlyn Krems who each scored 2 goals. Katie also had a rocket shot off the post, and had 2 assists. Cara Becker had a strong attacking game and a hard shot off the post. Kira Crehan pinched in quite well from D and got an assist. Sophia Leeds distributed the ball extremely well, got an assist and took a nice free kick that almost went in. Captain Casey Sanders got an assist, and was super on D and on the attack. The defense of Stephanie Karczewski, Theodora Papadoniou, Isabel Ugolini, and Mackenzie Griffin was stellar as well. Edna Dudek was in goal for the first half and had a fine game. Mackenzie G was keeper in the second half and came flying out of goal to make a great sliding block. Despite the weaker opponent, the girls looked fantastic today, passing the ball right/left/back, making overlap runs and changing fields without pausing. Super game.

U9 Boys Syosset tournament
The NHP Wildcats BU9 Thunder took home the second place trophy at the Syosset Soccer Club’s Columbus Day Tournament by finishing undefeated (4-0-1) in the very talented and challenging major division. In the eight team division, they were matched up against the top five teams and outscored their opponents 11-2. Everyone put in a great effort as each match turned into a hard-fought battle but the boys persevered and eventually were able to wrest control of each game. Outstanding goaltending primarily by Thomas Donnelly with assists from Sean O’Connor, John Tagios and Thomas Mangin. Stalwart defense from Evan Bandini, Dylan Figueroa, Ryan Moon and Sujith David. Exceptional ball movement by midfielders/forwards Sean O’Connor, Ryan O’Sullivan, Sean Kerwin, Nicholas Tagios, Thomas Mangin, John Tagios and Thomas Donnelly. A total team effort. Congratulations boys!
