Holy Spirit Rosary to Sponsor Christmas Fair

The Holy Spirit Rosary Society will sponsor a Christmas Fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. And on Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All new items, many outside vendors, fresh baked cakes and cookies, large basket raffles, plus a $1,000 raffle. Bring the children and a camera and take a family photo at the “Keep Christ in Christmas” setting and photos of Santa. All in the auditorium at 13 South 6th Street. Annual Mineola Mustang Run

The Annual Mineola Mustang Run will be held at the Mineola Middle School, 200 Emory Road, Mineola. The one mile fun run will start at 9 a.m. and the 5K race (3.1 miles) will step off at 10 a.m. Check-in on the day of the race is at 8 a.m. where runners can pickup their numbers and long-sleeve shirts. The certified race course is fast, flat and tree-lined through a residential area. Pre-registration fee is $20 and late registration fee is $25. Craig Johnson to Host Medicare Forum

New York State Senator Craig Johnson will be partnering with the Medicare Rights Center to host a Medicare Forum. The event will be from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the Herricks Senior Center located at 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park. The purpose of this forum is to ensure that seniors have access to all available information on Medicare and related programs that will help with everyday costs. The Doe Club Of New Hyde Park To Hold LCR Game Night

Weitzman Honored by Holocaust Memorial And Tolerance Center

Nassau County Comptroller Howard Weitzman will be honored by the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County at the Woodbury Jewish Center. “The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County acts as a voice of tolerance here on Long Island and I am proud and humbled to be honored by this institution,” said Comptroller Weitzman. “It’s crucial that we all find opportunities in each and every day to work against prejudice, hatred, apathy, and violence against all minorities. Lakeville/North Lakeville Civics to Host Sunlight Speaker

Local civic leaders, Marianna Wohlgemuth, Lakeville Estates Civic Association, and Marietta DiCamillo, North Lakeville Civic Association announce their meeting scheduled 8 p.m. The New York State Office of Attorney General is providing a guest speaker who will describe and explain “Project Sunlight.” A website designed to promote your right to know and to monitor government decision-making. The website – the first of its kind in New York State – offers a new prototype for how government should make information available in today’s “digital democracy.” Campaign contributions to local and statewide elected officials are also available on this site. Learn how to use the website, what information you can obtain, and how your tax dollars are being spent. Meetings are held at the Manhasset-Lakeville Firehouse, on 78th Avenue at the corner of Stewart Avenue in North New Hyde Park. Refreshments are always served and the meeting is open to all.

The New Hyde Park-based nonprofit organization, …be the example!, announced this month that it will hold its 2nd annual “The Magic of Giving” event on at the Jeannne Rimsky Theatre at Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington. This year’s honorees include students from East Harlem’s P.S. 171, Giving Open Access to Learning (GOAL) and Busoga Trust America (BTA).“We are proud to be hosting this event to honor these students and organizations for their philanthropic efforts,” say Debbie Goldman, founder of …be the example! “We are encouraged by the dedication of these students in serving others half a world away and will continue our crusade to help people through a variety of charitable endeavors.” The students from P.S. 171 will be honored for their charitable efforts to help build a much-needed well in Uganda.
