President’s and Principal’s Dinner
Today will mark the 50th time PTA presidents, school administrators and invited guests from across Nassau County have gathered together to enjoy a special evening celebrating the collaboration between school and community. Held at the Crest Hollow Country Club, the distinguished guest speaker will be National PTA President Chuck Saylors. In addition to what is certain to be an informative and motivating speech by President Saylors, entertainment will be provided by some of Nassau County’s talented students from the LI High School for the Arts.
Fall Fest Dinner
Come for good food and fun. Have dinner out before all the cooking on Thanksgiving. The menu includes pork, potatoes, sauerkraut, dessert and drinks. Raffles for grownups and kids are part of the evening. Everyone is welcome. Servings start at 5:30 p.m. and go until 7 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 33 Jefferson St., Garden City. Sewanhaka BOE Meeting
The regular meeting of the board of education of the Sewanhaka Central High School District will take place at Sewanhaka High School at 7:30 p.m. It is anticipated that a motion to adjourn to executive session will be made immediately after the opening of the public portion of the meeting to discuss matters invo9lving particular personnel and matters within the attorney-client relationship. The regular meeting will reconvene at 8 p.m. in the boardroom. All are invited to attend. Sewanhaka High School is located at 500 Tulip Avenue in Floral Park.

Bus Trip
The Floral Park Junior Women’s Club invites you to join them on the annual bus trip to the beautiful Victorian style Peddler’s Village in LaHaska, PA. With over 70 specialty shops and restaurants decorated for the holiday season and the beginning of the Christmas Festival, there is something for everyone. The bus leaves from the Floral Park Recreation Center at 7:30 a.m. and returns to Floral Park at approximately 9 p.m. Bagels will be supplied. Bring your own beverage. The cost is $40 per person. FP Youth Council Offers Breakfast With Santa
Join the Floral Park Youth Council at its Breakfast with Santa in the magically decorated Methodist Church auditorium. An all inclusive breakfast menu of eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, French toast, bagels and rolls, Danish, coffee, tea and juice will be offered this year. Doors will open at 9:45 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. followed by games and photo opportunities on stage with Santa himself until 12:15 p.m. Prices are $14 per adult and $9 per child 2-12 years of age and includes all. Holiday Fair/Kidz Boutique
Temple Tikvah, 3315 Hillside Ave. (one block west of Herricks Rd.), New Hyde Park will hold its annual Holiday Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A new Kidz Boutique will have a variety of reasonably priced items for children and adults to purchase. •Look Good…Feel Better, sponsored by LIJ Medical Center in association with the National Cosmetology Association, the Toiletry Fragrance Association and the American Cancer Society. The program reaches out to women with cancer and teaches them how to best apply makeup and wear their hair while undergoing cancer treatment. •Free/Low Cost Health Insurance. The residents of communities served by Mercy Medical Center will have the opportunity to apply for free or low cost health insurance for children, families and adults up to age 64 on the first Thursday of every month from 5 to 7 p.m. in Mercy’s Main Lobby. Staff from Catholic Charities of LI will assist you and our children applying for Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid Health Insurance Programs. The bi-lingual enrollers will screen adults for income eligibility for the state’s health insurance program Family Health Plus. Children are eligible for Child Health Plus. These programs cover medical check-ups, hospitalization, emergency care, prescriptions, vision and dental care.
•Zonta Club of LI, a member of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization with a local club. Members help advance the status of women and are involved in many community service activities. The name Zonta is word taken from the Sioux and stands for honesty, trust, inspiration and the ability to work together for service and understanding. At meetings members discuss and learn about issues facing women, develop and conduct fun fundraising that benefits community programs and network with Zonta International programs.
