NHP Lady Pumas – 3, Farmingdale Fire Balls – 2
The rain and wind of a nor’easter could not dampen the spirits of the girls as they came up big against a very good Farmingdale team en route to a much deserved 3-2 victory. The Lady Pumas continued their hot streak going 3-1-1 in their last 5 games, improving week after week. Saturday’s win was the highlight of the season to date.
Summary: NHP got on the board first about 5 minutes into the game when Cara Becker crashed in on goal, caught the Farmingdale goalie charging out, and lobbed a shot over the goalie’s head to make it 1-0. The first half ended 1-0 NHP. About 5 minutes into the 2d half, Farmingdale dashed in on goal and tied the game 1-1 – and created the makings for an exciting finish. NHP then countered with 2 quick goals of their own. Casey Sanders scored the key of goal of the game – making a beautiful spin move to spring herself into the penalty area off a long ball pass from Izzy Glennon, and then tucking a well-struck ball into the far right post for the 2-1 lead. Katie Krems then netted what would be the game winner, off a nice steal pass from Sophie Leeds that Kate put away for the 3-1 lead. Farmingdale got a goal back to make it 3-2 with about 5 minutes left in the game, but the girls held tough and did a good job playing D to preserve the victory.

Tornado Tigers 2 vs. Big Apple Panthers 3 –
The New Hyde Park Tornado Tigers and the Big Apple Panthers played a very exciting game at Soccer Park that went down to the wire. Big Apple took the early 2-0 lead on some very nice passing and shooting but the Tornado Tigers defense tightened up to hold them scoreless for about 40 minutes while the forwards were evening the score. Milla Skugor scored a beautiful goal off a crossing pass from Maggie Donnelly to pull the Tornado Tigers within 1 goal. The score was 2-1 at the half. The Tornado Tigers kept the pressure on with some nice passing of their own. Natalie Kariotis evened the score at 2 on a terrific goal off a very nice outlet pass by Kimberly Keblish. Natalie nearly scored earlier in the game but was stopped on a great save by the Big Apple goalie. Debra Keller and Mariela Facibene once again were fabulous in goal against a very skilled offense. Mariela made a spectacular save off a rocket shot that went off her hand and the cross bar before landing out of bounds to keep the score tied at 2. The girls from NHP had a few excellent scoring chances off some nice passing from their defenders and mid fielders but could not take the lead. Big Apple scored on a perfectly place shot with about 3 minutes left in the contest. Defenders Samantha Merino, Abby Wizel and Danielle Gerbe played awesome against a very skilled opponent. The Tornado Tigers played the undefeated Big Apple team even for 57 minutes in a very exciting battle. The team continues to improve while battling in the N4 division. The excitement continues next week in the final game of the fall season when the Tornado Tigers take on a strong team from Bethpage at 12:40 p.m. in Bethpage.

Soccer Stars
Vs. Thunder Cats –
On a soggy field of play, it was an exciting match-up between the Soccer Stars vs. the Thunder Cats. Starring in goal for the Soccer Stars was Irene Krische who blocked many shots on goal and communicating extremely well with her defense when she was able to get control of the ball. Nice Teamwork Soccer Stars!! Very solid on the defense was Madeline Slaski and Paden Dvoor doing a nice job breaking up attacks and clearing the ball up the field. Giving a great deal of support on the mid field positions were Isabella Mirro and Irene Tsahas showing fancy footwork sending the ball to the offenders Kassidy Keefe, Marcela Curcio & Marissa Cronin who in turn made nice runs toward goal. Irene Tsahas scoring the first goal of the game off a punt by goalie Irene Krische who punted the ball a few feet before the mid field line of play, as she anticipated the bounce was able to trap and make a quick turn & run toward goal to net a low ball to the left of the goalie. Great Goal, Irene T. With position changes for the second half of play to the offensive line, Channing Woo made explosive runs down the field to cross the ball in front of the net and Allison Liman who played very aggressively while holding her position very well on the left wing, as she received passes and then took control and ran down the sidelines in towards the goal giving herself nice opportunities to net a goal. Way To Go, Allison!! Kassidy Keefe and Marcela Curcio holding down the mid-field play as Daniela O’Modie receives a beautiful pass from Irene T. in the goal box and scores a nice goal for the Soccer Stars. Great Teamwork Girls! Not giving up at a chance for a second goal, Daniela O’Modie breaks up a play by the Thunder Cats and goes wide with the ball and shoots a ground ball shot to the corner of the goal. Great Footwork Daniela!! Team Soccer Stars played an amazing game of soccer, demonstrating great Teamwork & Sportsmanship during the entire game while having fun on the field. Thank You to All the Parents, Family & Friends for supporting Team Soccer Stars and we hope you enjoyed this exciting, fun season! Missing the assistance of Lior Cole & Shreya Rao.
