Robert Lang was elected commissioner of the Hicksville Fire District on Dec. 8. Lang, who is currently completing his tenure as chief of department, received 965 votes to defeat incumbent Harry Single, Jr., who received 620 votes.
Lang will be sworn in at the district’s Tuesday, Jan. 5 reorganization meeting. His term is five years and runs through Dec. 31, 2014.
Over in the Hicksville Water District, Karl Schweitzer, who ran unopposed, received 1,267 votes to garner his third, three-year term as commissioner. There were two write-ins each receiving a vote a piece.
