GCHS’s Brian Fischer Is Finalist in Top 25 Plays of 2009

MSG Varsity counts down to Christmas with the Top 25 Plays of 2009, which highlights the best of the best in football, boys and girls soccer and girls volleyball from the fall 2009 season.

Among the finalists in the Top 25 Plays of 2009 is Garden City High School’s football player Brian Fischer. Viewers can log onto msgvarsity.com to watch video of the plays and then vote on their top picks in each category. The winners will be announced on High School SportsDesk on Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. on Cablevision’s iO TV (Channel 14).

“We’ve covered so many incredible games this season and the Top 25 Plays of 2009 will celebrate some of the best athletes and their stand-out plays,” explained Shawna Ryan, anchor for MSG Varsity’s High School SportsDesk.

“We’re putting the power in the hands of our viewers,” added Jared Greenberg, anchor for MSG Varsity’s High School SportsDesk. “While all Top 25 plays are incredible in their own right, Shawna and I are looking forward to seeing who makes the final cut.”

High School SportsDesk, anchored by Jared Greenberg and Shawna Ryan, is a daily show featuring highlights from high school games held throughout the tri-state area. The half-hour show also includes athlete interviews and feature stories on a wide range of high school sports topics, with News 12’s regional talent contributing to the show’s coverage. Plays of the Week, team rankings, profiles, coaches’ discussions and teasers for upcoming games, match-ups and rivalries are all part of this fast-moving sports show. High School SportsDesk airs weeknights at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Cablevision’s iO TV (Channel 14).
