Irish Family History Forum

Presents a talk by Meldon J. Wolfgang III, “Sleuthing in the Stacks: Using Uncommon Resources to Uncover Genealogical Clues.” This presentation will introduce researchers to a host of valuable reference tools and finding aids that can be successfully used by genealogists and family historians of all experience levels, and especially by those who have come up against that research brick wall. Resources regularly used by researchers in other disciplines but rarely used by genealogists are explored and suggestions are given for conducting a successful secondary literature search. There will be a Help Session at 10 a.m. Lecture 11 a.m. at the Bethpage Public Library, 47 Powell Ave., Bethpage. Everyone welcome.

What All Seniors Need to Know

Senator Hannon is sponsoring a seminar featuring speakers on the subject of Alzheimer’s Disease, Estate Planning/Elder Law and Senior Housing. Virginia Belling of Senior Placement Services will provide you with and guide you through the steps of recognizing, dealing with and caring for Alzheimer patients. Sheila Lyons, Esq. will explain ways to protect your assets and life savings. Regardless of what your assets are, you want to ensure that they will be protected and disbursed the way you want them to be. Senior Housing Advocate, Tracey Kuczinski, will discuss housing options and concerns for seniors. 1 to 3 p.m. at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd. The seminar will be repeated in April.

Temple Chaverim of Plainivew invites you to an adult education program “Eat and Learn” at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy a catered dinner followed by a talk by Professor Christopher Williams, associate vice president for Government Relations and Public Policy at C.W. Post Long Island University entitled “The Seven Jewish Justices of the United States Supreme Court.” Professor Williams will discuss the justices’ personal stories as well as their impact on American jurisprudence.
