Beat the winter blahs and join your neighbors at a night of comedy hosted by one of “America’s Funniest People” – Harry Freedman of East Norwich. The fundraiser takes place on Friday, Jan. 22 starting at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) at the Oyster Bay High School Performing Arts Center. Proceeds will benefit PAC member East Norwich Volunteer Firefighter Gary Wessel, who is recovering from the effects of a brain aneurysm suffered on June 11, 2009.
On the bill are three comedians. Harry Freedman has 30 years of professional comedy experience, from the clubs of Las Vegas to the corporate board room. Harry has performed hilarious customized comedy for hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies, including AT&T, Rolls Royce, Fidelity Investments, and American Express, and he has also appeared on TV and radio shows, including One on One Sports with Tim McCarver. Harry can often be seen performing stand-up comedy, opening for Ray Romano, and has written for and appeared on his CBS sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond. He has also appeared on Stand-up Spotlight, American’s Funniest People, Comedy On the Road, and has written for, and appeared on Caroline’s Comedy Hour.
Also appearing will be New York based Jim Dallakis hails from Perth, Australia. What was supposed to be a 3-month stand-up comedy tour has become indefinite due to the overwhelming demand for him to perform nationally. Jim has appeared on television on VH1, NBC, and in globally seen commercials. He performs at the top comedy clubs such as The Borgata, Caroline’s on Broadway, and The Laugh Factory. He has done extensive work in radio including XM Satellite Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, and others.
Third on the list of performers is John Larocchia who has been perfoming stand-up comedy for over 18 years. A valued member of America’s Greatest Fire Department – the FDNY – for 21 years, John can personally identify with Gary’s bravery.
