The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-03 held its first monthly meeting of 2010 at the Hideaway Restaurant in the Glen Cove Marina the evening of Jan. 8. In addition to the normal meeting agenda, the various FSOs (Flotilla Staff Officers) were sworn in by the District Auxiliary Commander, John Pitrowski.
The USCG Auxiliary is the largest volunteer organization of its kind in the world – as part of The United States Coast Guard and The Department of Homeland Security, it provides numerous training and fellowship opportunities, free vessel examinations, boating safety courses, as well as assisting boaters on the water and supporting authorized USCG missions.
Any citizen of the United States of America, 16 years of age or older, may apply for membership.
