Anthony “Tony” Previte, a former trustee on the Hicksville Public Library Board, passed away Feb. 21, 2010. Mr. Previte had been battling an illness for several months and recently underwent surgery. He was 85 years old.
In addition to serving on the library board, Mr. Previte was past president of the Hicksville Community Council and a member of the Hicksville Gregory Museum Board. He was also active with the Hicksville’s Galileo Galilei Lodge –Sons of Italy, the Joseph Barry Knights of Columbus, the Charles Wagner American Legion and the William M. Gouse, Jr. Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Those close to Mr. Previte said he “always had a joke to tell” and “loved to sing opera to anyone willing to listen.”
Mr. Previte is survived by his wife, Juliette; a son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Pat; a daughter, Tina Ithie; and grandchildren, Adriana, Alea, Jason, Jay, Jessie, Jillian, Kerie, Mackenna and Tricia.
