Salmon Limousine Services Rays 11, BAB Mechanical Astros 10 –
In a thrilling start to the 2010 Minors season, the Rays scored 2 runs in the bottom of the final inning to defeat the amazing Astros in dramatic fashion. The Rays tied the score in the final inning thanks to a leadoff hit by Ryan Hodes, followed by a tough HBP by Jake Leventhal and a run-scoring smash by Andrew Kadish. The winning run then came in thanks to a perfect bunt by Brian Volk and heads-up base running by Jake Leventhal. An earlier 4-run deficit was erased in a powerful 6-run inning, capped off by a “no doubt” Grand Slam by Jack Tucker. Other offensive stars included Jordan Greiff, Jacob Seidenberg, Michael Telsey and Jared Schwartz. The pitching staff, which kept the Rays in the game all night long, consisted of Jacob Seidenberg, Michael Telsey, Brian Volk, Joey Jacobs, Andrew Kadish and Jordan Greiff. Solid, heads-up defense was turned in by Jack Tucker, Jared Hodes and Karan Thadhani. Great start, guys! Should be a fun season!
Dennis Barber Shop Riversharks (8) vs. Plain & Fancy Landscaping Bears (2)
Tough opening day loss for the Bears. We were a little rusty at the plate. Great pitching by Louis Plomitallo, Michael Varrone and Peter Tagios. Good job behind the plate by Mike Lopez and RJ Donohue. Nice at bats by Landon Phillips, Jake Seker, Christian Carrick and Nick Zovich. Nice fielding by Anthony Lanzilotta and Nevin Nambiar. We’ll get them next time.
Plain & Fancy Landscaping Bears (5) vs. Dominick’s Italian and American Deli Pride (4)
Great game by both teams. The Bears’ bats finally came alive today with some timely hitting by Michael Varrone, Peter Tagios (2RBI’s), Christian Carrick (2RBIs), Nevin Nambiar and Landon Phillips. We also had some dazzling plays in the field, especially two by Jake Seker making a diving stab in left field. Also, nice fielding by Jared Kossover, RJ Donohue, and Nick Zovich. Excellent pitching from Louis Plomitallo, Christian Carrick and Peter Tagios. Great job behind the plate by Michael Lopez. Keep up the good work.
The Baxter’s Sport Shop Rangers Met The Grant Thornton LLP Brewers
For the Rangers the game was all about pitching. PJ Vayias, Alex Russo and Dean Vayias combined for five innings of one-run baseball. The Rangers offense was lead by Raymond Gresalfi, Joe Judge and Sean Rice each of whom had two runs scored and Stephen Guy and Spencer Kern each with a run scored.
Piccolo Italian Gourmet Diamondbacks vs. GIGI’s Pizza Marlins
The yard was alive with the sounds of baseball on April 10 at Merillon AA complex. The Diamondbacks had strong pitching this weekend from S.Feishbein,P. Carrecca and N. Levkulic. The team’s slugging awards go to L. Tesoriero, N. Lopez , S. Fishbein and D. Coval. The team’s Gold Glove awards go to P. Mc Teirnan and N. Lopez . Our Gamer awards go to M.Castelli ,M.Colluccio, H.Dewitt, P.Tozzi, J. Tamara and CJ. Riccobono.
Game Summary for the Upper Farms City Line Florist Angels:
April 6th. The Angels had a great opening day, led by great pitching performances by Tyler Witt, Robbie Booth and Justin Kuzler. Chris Ugolini, Mike Carroll and Sam Ugolini provided the Angels with great hitting. Sean McClellan had a great defensive game making many fine plays in the field. Stevie Farishian, Shawn Chacko and Frankie Stigliano also provided great defense for the Angels.
April 10th. The Angels faced a tough Cardinals team but managed to play another great game. Chris Ugolini continued his great hitting and along with Tyler Witt and Sean McClellan combined for multiple hits. Sean McClellan and Mike Carroll had solid pitching performances. Sam Ugolini, Brandon Knupfer and Frankie Stigliano played great defensive. Robbie Booth continued to do a great job catching behind the plate and Justin Kuzler continues to be a threat with his speed on the base paths. Another great game for the Angels.
April 8th Grant Thornton Brewers vs.Baxter’s Sport Shop Rangers
Alessandro Lacera was the Brewers’ starting pitcher and struck out three Rangers. Ryan Cloonan, Philip Menist and Matthew Shen each made their Upper farm pitching debuts. Philip Menist also got three strikeouts in his inning pitched. Sean O’Leary contributed with a big double. All the boys overcame nerves to play a good game in their season opener.
April 10th Grant Thornton Brewers vs. The Hillside Beverage Rockies
Jordan Seidenberg, Chris Kerrane and Daniel Mattei made their Upper Farm pitching debuts for the Brewers. Jordan Seidenberg was able to strike out three Rockies in his inning pitched. Philip Menist had two big hits for the Brewers. Chris Kerrane, Daniel Mattei and Jeremy Feng each had key hits to advance base runners. Total team defense continues to get better for the Brewers.
It was a “brisk” start to the Marlins’ season, although a cool April wind did little to temper the boy’s excitement. While the bats were a bit silent, the team more than made up for it on the field. Charlie Goodwin took the mound in first inning and threw heat followed by two scoreless innings from both Kenny Gensch and Christopher Bruccoleri, who tossed solid innings. Upper Farms veteran Elliot Weissman was also brilliant on the mound, striking out the only three batters he faced. In the field, we had some solid defense as Dylan Kareff threw out a speedy Diamondback with a toss over to first baseman Sean O’ Connor who stretched to make the play. The only hit in the game came from Ivan Vidaich who ripped a hard ground ball helping to set up a run later that inning. In addition, we also had solid defense from Jake Blanchard, David Klebenow, Matthew Baronci, Joe Santos and Paul Fadul.
Robert J. Kurre & Associates, PC “Ducks” 1 Vs. Dominick’s Italian & American Delicatessen “Pride” 5
The Ducks started the season with 2 hard fought games and game 2 the bats woke up, led by Frankie Saladino’s base hit. Also, off with a hot bat are Zach Schrieber (with 2 hits in game 1), David West, and Greg Donovan. The pitching looks like the strength of the team with 6 players already toeing the rubber, including; Greg Kyro, Greg Haynes, Jack Mangin, Tyler Weiss and Vincent Rossello. The team also has a versatile defense with all players capable of playing many positions including: outfielder/infielder Matt Bateman and Harris Monoson.
Grant Thornton LLP Brewers vs Hillside Beverage Rockies
The Hillside Beverage Rockies were excited to return to the field for their second game. Pitching for the Rockies, George Vlantis, Michael Jacobs, Richard Kanders, Brandon Alwadish, and Adam Sperling combined to hold off a slugging Brewers team to a few runs. The Rockies continued their scoring ways with Alex Garabedian leading the way. He was on base four times, stealing three bags and scoring three runs. Also contributing to the win with their excellent defense was Alex Banks and Shayne Simoncini. The Rockies are off to a great start.
