Knights of Columbus #2852
Merillon Minors Dragons (16) vs Manhasset Blue (10)

The Merillon Dragons played a great game today, even with some players missing from the team. The star of the game goes to Brittany Levkulic with outstanding pitching and hitting in today’s game. The rest of the Dragons team excelled in the field as well as at the plate to move the team to victory. Once again I am proud of our team and keep up the good work.

Knights of Columbus #2853 Merillon Minors Dragons (10) vs Mineola (13)

The Dragons played a really well played game today against a tough Mineola Team. Once again the star of the game goes to the entire team. All of the girls are playing at a high level and it shows on the field. Hitting and fielding are making great strides as we move towards the end of the season and entering the playoffs. May the bats stay alive and the gloves stay hot for the rest of the season. LETS GO DRAGONS!

Ridgewood Savings Bank Mariners (8) vs. Modell’s Pirates (3)

The mighty Mariners got back in the win column with shut-out pitching by John Denara (2Ks), Jimmy Denara (1K), Alex Bracco and closer, Danny Kosofsky (2Ks).  Charlie Hwang led the offense with his first home-run of the season to deep right-field and Joe Dunn and James Castaldi contributed with hard-hit singles.  With the Mariners clinging to a slight lead in the third inning, Bradley Sheen made the catch of the game with a running stab of a long fly ball in left-center.  Catcher, Michael Zuschlag preserved the lead later in the game by expertly blocking the plate to deny a Pirate runner from trying to steal home.  Also flashing leather in the field was Harman Takhur and Jacob Leeds.

Baxter’s Sport Shop Rangers Vs City Line Florist Angels

Another great team effort helped the Rangers pull out a victory against a spirited Angels team.  Pitching has been a strong point most of the year for the Rangers and PJ Vayias, Joe Judge, Alex Russo and Dean Vayias all were effective on the mound.  Offensively, the Rangers all wore their hitting shoes and threw out a very balanced offensive attack.  Defensively, the Rangers were solid all over the field with Stephen Guy making a great catch of a fly ball late in the game to help seal the victory.

Salmon Limousine Services Rays (0) vs Mike’s New Hyde Park Convenience Store Orioles (2)

Pitching and defense were the order of the day in the Rays’ 2-0 loss to the outstanding Orioles.  Normally when you hold the opponent to only 2 runs you win in Little League.  But the final score proved to the Rays players that the age-old baseball axiom “It’s tough to win when you don’t score any runs” was as true today as it was 100 years ago.  The normally potent Rays bats were silenced most of the evening, with the only hits coming on infield hits from Matt O’Connor and Ryan Hodes.  When the Rays did put the ball in play, the Orioles were there to make the plays keeping the Rays off the scoreboard.  The Rays were led by the dominant pitching of Jordan Greiff (4 innings, 1 unearned run) and Jacob Seidenberg (2 innings, 1 unearned run).  Defensive gems were turned in by Brian Volk (gunning out a runner at third to end the 5th inning in a 1-0 game), Matt O’Connor at 1B (beautiful pick of a low throw to end an inning and a snare of a bases loaded line drive that saved 2-3 runs), Michael Telsey (nice catches of consecutive pop-ups at 2B), Jared Schwartz (once again a rock behind the plate), Jack Tucker (getting better every game at 1B), Jared Hodes (great pick on a hard shot to 3B), Karan Thadhani and Joey Jacobs.

Knights of Columbus Dodgers vs New Hyde Park Elks Athletics
