Philip J. Murtha, 83, of East Farmingdale, passed away surrounded by his family on June 5, 200. FDNY Fire Marshal for 33 years. Ex-chief and commissioner of the East Farmingdale Fire Department, 33 years of service. Proud U.S. Navy veteran having served 27 months in the South Pacific and also serving with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Ex-Commander of American Legion Post, Member VFW Post 516, past president of Farmingdale Republican Club. Husband of Marie B. (nee Lyons). Father of Raymond and Karen, Jerry and Robin, Barbara and Pete Dunn. Grandfather of nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Brother of Vincent, Joan Durjian and Marion Frank. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held June 9 at St. Kilian RC Church with interment with military honors following at St. Charles Cemetery.
