Animal Talk with Scout Stacey
Calling all scientists! Join Scout Stacey every week in the It’s Alive gallery for an exploration of the animal kingdom. From reptiles to birds to insects, we will use all our senses to observe these fascinating organisms. Learn about their habitats, what they eat, and how to properly take care of them. Grab your magnifying glasses and come on over for Animal Talk to have all your creature questions answered! Age: 5 and up. Free with museum admission. Age: 3 and up. Fee: $4 with museum admission ($3 LICM members) All activities will be held at the Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Museum admission: $10 for adults and children over 1 year old, $9 seniors, free to museum members and children under 1 year old. Additional fees for theater and special programs may apply. Laughter Yoga Has Erupted In New Hyde Park
At “Spinner’s Grinners” Laughter Yoga Club, members take part in a series of laughter, breathing and playfulness exercises with many, many health benefits. You don’t have to be happy, you don’t have to be funny, you don’t even need a sense of humor! Everyone can do this! No joke! We will not be laying on the floor and no knowledge of yoga is necessary. All activities are done either sitting or standing. We meet twice per month, usually on a Thursday night (for approx. 1 hr, 10 min.). Meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp. Ages: 13-80. Assemblywoman Schimel/GCP Fire to Host Blood Drive
Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel is partnering with the Garden City Park Fire Department for the second year in a row to host a blood drive. The drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Garden City Park Department located at 2264 Jericho Turnpike in Garden City Park, New Hyde Park. Blood banks traditionally experience a drop in donations during the summer months while blood is still needed daily to meet the needs of patients in our area.
